You can`t go wrong with any of those odds.

Why is Minnesota ahead of so many teams?

All in all there isn’t a whole lot of value in any of these numbers considering the parity of the NHL and the great variance involved in navigating through a difficult playoff bracket that lasts almost two months. The time to bet NHL futures, (perhaps all sports), is early to mid season.

I have just two future tickets this year. Nashville at 66/1 and Calgary at 500/1. Both were bought early in the season. Even with these generous numbers I have my doubts in cashing either ticket. To see Nashville listed at 13/1 and Calgary at 45/1 is ridiculous -EV.

The sole reason I took Nashville and Calgary was due to the high odds available and the hope of them just to make the playoffs. Then hedge. In the unlikely event that either longshot wins the cup I still leave myself enough equity to show a profit. I had both Carolina at 100/1 in 2006 and Pittsburgh at 75/1 in 2009. Hedged off of both. Both won the cup. I still turned a profit.

All that being said, at this point of time, I agree with you that Tampa Bay at 15/1 offers the most value. Three things all cup champions share. Strength down the middle, a dominant defenseman, and shut down goaltender. Tampa Bay owns these key ingredients. However I can’t help but wonder if you’d do better than 15/1 by parlaying Tampa Bay in each individual series price all the way to the cup final. You’d also have the option of jumping off this plan at any point and still locking in a profit, providing they win their first round. This option would also allow you to play a series price anytime during the series. Sometimes you are better off taking a series price after the series has started.

My point behind all of this is there really isn’t much value in these numbers listed above. If I was to take anything it would be riding Ottawa, (and the hamburglar), at 75/1. Very hot team and the chances of them getting in ahead of Boston is very reasonable.

I disagree....Just look at the chalk the Rangers at +735....$100/$735

Look at Montreal at +1100.....They have 99 points and $100 will get you $1100...LOL

Value up and down the board.

too much respect given to the LA Kings. They aren't even making the playoffs this year

Yeah you're right. Value in the winner for sure. Just pick it. I like Anaheim and the Habs.

How many teams in your opinion can win the cup this year? Is it possible there’s ten teams that could go on a run and win it all? If so 11/1 is a break even proposition.

Rangers opened at 20/1 and Montreal 15/1 at Westgate. You’re late for the party.

Calgary still the best bet on the board even though it went down from 55-1 last week.
