SCAR3 had a decent first show - considering this is a movie that would tend to skew towards kids that are still in school at the time I thought it was a pretty good turn out. Plus I have some indication that the next show (the first after schools out) will be much stronger.

RADIO had a very good first show.

Audiance was mainly seniors and family type groups. Most of the people I talked to seemed to be fairl enthusiastic about the movie. One note: RADIO is a movie that would tend to do very good business at my theatre so this may not be typical of other theatres.

Side note, Mystic River seems to be doing better than last Friday. I have a feeling WOM is getting around and bringing more people in. I think it could see a fairly good delist multiplier.

Scary Movie 3
1:20 p.m. Showing
500-Seat Theatre: 80% Full

I don't remember the trailers -- they were all terrible. Film was fairly funny -- not up there with Airplane or Naked Gun, but leagues better than that dreck Scary Movie 2. Crowd seemed to like it and loved the ending.

If you think that's good, you should have seen the line to get tickets. Anyone with an AMC near them probably knows how they have outdoor ticket booths with these "removable" sides. Well, the crowd of people were wrapped in lines up and down the inside, and then spilled out.

It was a shock.

80% full? Don't these people have jobs?

1:00 pm showing
Capacity 1500 seats
Queensway Toronto
15 people in the theater

The first part of the film had people laughing quite a bit, but then it died after that.

Didn't really notice any lines for the next show.
Forget the trailers.

GREAT JOB, OREN! Keep up the good work. Lets get some crowd reports for the 700pm and 930pm show times. I have no doubt they will be sold out. I hope this movie kicks ass!!!

Hey Oren, is it looking better than TCM looked?

I hope

Suburb of D.C. in Virginia. -- nm

5:50 show, 407-seater, sold out.

Trailers:
Something's Gotta Give - laughs
Love Actually - laughter
Bad Santa - laughs
Stuck On You - a chuckle or two
Honey - silence
50 First Dates - a lot of laughs

Movie:
Hillarious. Not quite the same level as the first film, but certainly above the trainwreck second film. Most of the smuttiness is gone (it's still present, but not in such...graphic...forms), and the film appears to be ably taken over by Zucker quite well. The crowd was in stitches throughout.

When I left...the 7:40, 8:10, 9:35, 10:00 and 10:55 were all sold out. At this same point of the night last week, TXCSM had only sold out two shows. So, I'm assuming this is pointing to a big weekend for it.

I know this can't be 100% accurate, but...

Scary Movie 3 7:15 showing

50%+ full (200 seater)

I went outside the theater to see how many people would go, so I never got in. But juding on how many people were there, this movie will be HUGE. I've never seen so many people there for a grand opening of a movie at 7:15 (we live in a small hick town with 1 duplex theater). Last time I've seen this many people was F.v.J which was about 35% full.

I'm smelling a 14m Friday.....

I've only seen one crowd report for Radio so far.... which means none of these dudes that surf the net knows anyone that's seeing this thing apparently, which isn't surprising. Should make what, 9-12 million? Althoug it's still early. Scary Movie 3 has been getting a lot of reports, which is good in itself on top of the content of the reports.

Scary Movie 3 appears to be on its way to a 40 million+ weekend. If my Radio under doesn't hit I'm gonna be

Hey Oren,

Did you pick Scary Movie 3 to do under 40 million? I thought you took the over? I hope Radio does under 13 million... if it does, I'll have a great weekend. If Scary movie does over 36 million, again, great weekend.

scary movie:

No sell outs at my theater, which is pretty odd. I'll give it a $40 million opening weekend. The movie ain't that great, so it'll drop off huge.

It sold out in my theater most of the night showings and they are in 400 seat theaters. I will say it will open around 35-40 million, maybe a smiggen more.

In comparison to TCM, SM3 had a slight uptick over TCM.

AMC Atlanta

SM3 (300 Seats) -- 7:00 90%, 7:50 sold out, 9:15 two shows sold out, 10:00 sold out, 11:30 two shows sold out, 12:15 60% sold. Tickets were 95% discounted student or child tickets. I'd put it about 600 tickets ahead of TCM of last week but SM3 pulled in the child and student under 16 crowd earlier away from School of Rock. If there were adults over 25 going I didn't sell them any tickets all night.

TCM -- 234 seats -- Only sold out only the 10:30 and 11:30 shows.

Radio (274 seat) -- Did very well early with 1 sell out and then just died. Older crowd.

Beyond Borders -- We sold 20 tickets to it the entire night.

Kill Bill / Runaway Jury / Mystic River were all on the rungs below the top 3.

Looking at a $36-$39M opening weekend.
