SCAR3 had a decent first show - considering this is a movie that would tend to skew towards kids that are still in school at the time I thought it was a pretty good turn out. Plus I have some indication that the next show (the first after schools out) will be much stronger.
RADIO had a very good first show.
Audiance was mainly seniors and family type groups. Most of the people I talked to seemed to be fairl enthusiastic about the movie. One note: RADIO is a movie that would tend to do very good business at my theatre so this may not be typical of other theatres.
Side note, Mystic River seems to be doing better than last Friday. I have a feeling WOM is getting around and bringing more people in. I think it could see a fairly good delist multiplier.
Scary Movie 3
1:20 p.m. Showing
500-Seat Theatre: 80% Full
I don't remember the trailers -- they were all terrible. Film was fairly funny -- not up there with Airplane or Naked Gun, but leagues better than that dreck Scary Movie 2. Crowd seemed to like it and loved the ending.
If you think that's good, you should have seen the line to get tickets. Anyone with an AMC near them probably knows how they have outdoor ticket booths with these "removable" sides. Well, the crowd of people were wrapped in lines up and down the inside, and then spilled out.
It was a shock.
80% full? Don't these people have jobs?
1:00 pm showing
Capacity 1500 seats
Queensway Toronto
15 people in the theater
The first part of the film had people laughing quite a bit, but then it died after that.
Didn't really notice any lines for the next show.
Forget the trailers.
