Where do the Rams get all the cash ..... are they cap exempt?

Rams spend their cap.

Most teams don't spend it and the owner pockets the $18m, and any balance below the 90% gets rolled forward.

Some teams are $100m below but Goodell assures us they are not tanking.

FYI

If teams want to compete with the best talent they can pay players signing bonuses that are spread over the life of the unguraranteed contract, but take a cap hit when they cut the player after a couple of years.

This works well when the salary cap is increasing.

For the other teams [businesses], they do the reverse ie rolling forward the portion of the cap below the 90% they are required to spend and can then pocket increasing amounts in subsequent years.

NB across the league teams are required to spend 95% of the cap in total.

Its too complicated for any of talking heads to understand so they pretty much just ignore it. You can download a copy of the CBA if interested in how it all works.

Record now +6.42u

Pats at Jets

I'm staying away from this one, I may have a small bet but not for record. Gaze has done well against BB enough times to make me cautious about taking the Pats, if anything I like the ML at +350 for the Jets, but only for rooting interest.

Frog rant

Tanking teams

Here is the list of recent teams that have tanked and are competing for SuperBowls.

.....

The list of teams that have tanked allowing the owner to pocket tens of millions, maybe more, in salary cap savings is way longer. Tanking is a method that owners use to improve their short term cash flow ie the cash flows from the players to the owners pocket.

Despite the fake news, tanking teams have a history of going from middle of the pack to the basement then back to the middle of the pack.

Vikings

Mike Florio broke his silence on Kirk Cousins very good performances over the past 3 weeks, instead of being happy he doubled down on his scathing criticism smh, sadly not even remotely entertaining or well thought out. "Can't dispel the reality of Cousins performance over the past 3 years, of choking in big games, throwing interceptions etc". He seemed to be in favour of the Vikings playing their backup ahead of Cousins failing in his next game against the Skins......

KC game

Week 7 got off to a good start, with Denver playing the way they have for most of year. Sadly I didn't add to my KC bet, so needed the Colts on Sunday to cash in.

The talking heads are already writing the Chiefs off after the knee injury to Mahomes. Matt Moore is a baller and I don't expect much of a drop off from an injured Mahomes. Sadly Vegas seems to agree so no juicy KC lines as yet.

I feel for Mahomes as he is still on his rookie contract and hope the injury doesn't affect him getting paid.

Cowboys

Injured players came back and Dallas look good again, similar to last year after the arrival of Cooper. However, according to the talking heads the only reason the Eagles lost was that their coach said they were going to Dallas to win the game. I guess bulletin board material is the most important thing to consider when capping a game.

Rams game

"Locker room cancer and bad team mate" Jalen Ramsay was welcomed by his new team mates and exited the injury report. The line didn't move so either Vegas didn't care or had already factored in a better defensive effort by the Rams this week.

All week the narratives were that been McVeagh has been found out and that Goff is over paid and over rated. Paul Finebaum had an interesting take on the hot takers. His is view is that they are jealous of the highly paid athletes and take every opportunity to put the boot in. Not his opinion but based on his experience working with many different reporters.

Jags

Doug Marrone looks like he's trying to get out of Jacksonville as well, calling out the President of Football operations for not fronting to explain the Ramsay trade. Shad Khan is patient but not stupid, can do maths and runs very success football [soccer] franchises in the UK.

"Hey Tom, explain to me again why we are paying Blake Bortles $15m this year to be the Rams backup and why we didn't want to pay a top defensive player more than $3m. If you wanted to tank we would have been better off keeping Blake."

Bears game

Every time I switched over to the game I heard the commentators say "He just missed a wide open receiver". I feel for Nagy, the Bears fans, and the rest of the team. Maybe John Fox knew he was going to be fired and drafting Trubisky was his parting gift...

Browns

The talking heads have finally worked out that the problem with the Browns isn't Baker reacting to Rex Ryan or OBJ pouting over not getting enough touches, but the lack of coaching ability across the big 3. When people are saying that the Browns made a mistake to have fired Gregg [Kill the Head and the Body will Die] Williams you know it is serious. They are stuck as they can't fire Kitchens as his underlings are no better. Jay Gruden would be a huge upgrade but he's probably already locked in for Vegas.

49ers

SF couldn't quite get the cover on the Fedex waterslide or is it the Fedex grazing paddock. But a dominant victory regardless.

The Fish

Down 3 and onside kick straight to the opponent....... Definitely not tanking
