Never was in one, but I think some are Points or Money totaled in a couple of days. Go Bust the first day, you are Out.
Some will have it all in one day.
Timed sessions with only a certain amount of people moving on from each session. Top 5 stacks from each table for example. So on and so forth until a final table is reached. Final session is usually longer but still a timed event. Once the clock hits zero they let the final roll play out & count the stacks.
People play the early rounds pretty conservative....Try to have the bare minimum in play and let others eliminate themselves by losing more.
There is alot of luck involved (obviously) but you also have to be able to figure out what to bet and how much when you are trying to catch someone with a bigger stack and only a few minutes left.
My buddy won a VIP tourney at IP years ago and he had only ever played the game a few times. I took him as my guest & I didn't even make the final table lol. There is supposed to be NO communication with non-players but I was able to keep an eye on people's stacks as a spectator & give him a few hand signals in the last 5 minutes.
