Do you have to be a LEGAL RESIDENT of CR now in order to get a driver license?

You cant just take your US license fill the forms and get a license?

I heard in 2012 they added the new LEGAL RESIDENCY requirement and require cedula, so cant just go there and show them your US license and get a CR license

ya they did but like most places around the world, if you are just visiting you can use your US licence while you are here. Getting a CR licence is much more difficult. I will ask tomorrow if I can get you more info.

Tourist visit of 90 days allows you to drive with your own country's license. If you stay a day over the 90 days (or whatever you were stamped with) then your drivers license would be invalid in CR
