We're almost there, folks: Amazon Prime Day starts tomorrow. The 36-hour sale starting Monday, July 16 will feature more than one million deals, and its global reach has been extended to four more countries this year: Australia, Singapore, Netherlands and Luxembourg join the US, UK, Spain, Mexico, Japan, India, Italy, Germany, France, China, Canada, Belgium and Austria.
Below you'll find a list of what's already on sale; some announced deals that will start once the sale commences; and some tips and background info on Prime Day. We'll be updating this story extensively once the sale starts, so please check back.
Last updated: Sunday, 9:45 a.m. PT
What: Amazon's smorgasbord of deals -- pretty much "Black Friday in July." More than a million products will be discounted, but not all at the same time, and not all for the duration of the event. Some will be available only during certain hours, for example, while others may sell out.
When: Prime Day starts at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT) on Monday, July 16. It runs through 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday night, July 17. It will start at noon on July 16 in the UK and Australia, and run for 36 hours in both countries. Offers will differ from country to country.
Who can participate: Technically, you must be an Amazon Prime subscriber to take advantage of Prime Day deals... but some vendors may offer discounts to all shoppers.
Disclaimer: CNET may get a share of revenue from the sale of the products featured on this page.

[h=2]Deals coming on Prime Day[/h]Prime Day deals revealed early. Amazon just lifted the curtain on some of the deals that will be available when the event kicks off. Among them: A Kindle Paperwhite for $80 (the lowest price ever on that model, and that includes Black Friday) and a Blink XT 1 Camera System for $75 (regularly $130).

Amazon has also announced a boatload of back-to-school deals, including 30 percent off select STEM toys, a 32-inch smart TV (brand not specified) for $130 and up to 30 percent off AmazonBasics office-supply products.
A $10 credit when you spend $10 at Whole Foods. Yep, you'll get a $10 Amazon credit when you spend at least $10 at the Amazon-owned grocery chain. But that doesn't kick in until Prime Day proper, so don't head to the store just yet. Thankfully, you don't need to have an Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card to score this perk. Just scan the Prime Code in your Amazon or Whole Foods app when you check out.

Huawei phone deals. If you're in the market for a new phone, Huawei has a pair of deals lined up for Prime Day: The Honor View 10 for $399 ($100 off) and Honor 7X for $169 (a $30 savings).

Save on a dashcam, get a Bluetooth speaker free. During Prime Day, you can get the popular Vantrue N2 Pro dashcam for $145.99 with promo code PRIMEVNP. Add the Vantrue V1 Bluetooth speaker to your cart and you'll get it for free! It normally sells for $50.

ViewSonic monitors and projectors. The company has discounts planned for about a dozen products, including the PX747-4K projector for $1,000 (currently $1,275) and the XG2402 FreeSync Gaming Monitor for $170 (currently $250).

Nvidia Shield TV with remote for $139. The jack-of-many-trades Nvidia 4K streaming box is currently $179, but on Prime Day you'll be able to snag it for $40 less. Read CNET's Nvidia Shield review to learn more.

Save 25 percent on a Yubico YubiKey 4. It looks like a flash drive, but this USB security key adds an extra layer of protection to your PC. Just plug it in and tap the gold button to gain access. The YubiKey 4 normally runs $40, but it'll be $30 on Prime Day.

Samsung Connect Home smart Wi-Fi system 3-pack for $99. Lowe's will offer up to 60 percent off select smart-home products, including this mesh-network combo, which normally runs $300. It earned a 4.5-star average from Lowe's customers, but read CNET's Samsung Connect Home review for a deeper dive. (Interestingly, price was one of the biggest complaints... but you can't complain about $99!)

[h=1]Don't make these 6 common mistakes and do Amazon Prime Day right[/h]
For online shoppers, Amazon's Prime Day on July 16 has become as highly anticipated as Cyber Monday. For Amazon, it's been even more successful.
This year, the sales start at 3 PM Eastern time and continue for 36 hours until Tuesday night, making for the longest and most globally accessible Prime "day" yet. There will be "more than one million deals exclusively for Prime members," according to the company.

Jeff Bezos's e-commerce giant continues to dominate online retail: Amazon is expected to take nearly half of the U.S. e-commerce market by the end of the year, according to a recent report by analysts at eMarketer.

To get the most out of the sales event, here are some common mistakes to avoid when shopping on Prime Day.

1. Paying $99 for Prime to participate

Yes, Prime Day is only for Amazon subscribers, but if you're not one, don't think you have to pay the $99 yearly fee to take part. New subscribers can sign up for a 30-day free trial and get access to the deals.

But remember to read the fine print. At the end of the trial, Amazon will automatically upgrade you to a paid membership plan. You have to affirmatively turn off the automatic renewal before the end of the trial if you don't want to get charged.

2. Forgetting to check your Amazon account beforehand

Make sure your credit card info, account and shipping info are up to date. With limited sales, time is of the essence. Don't discover you have to update your expired credit card in the middle of a purchase.

3. Falling down the Prime Day rabbit hole

"Part of the challenge on Prime Day is that are are so many products that can be discounted," says Rick Broida, CNET's online deal expert and author of blog The Cheapskate.

For that reason, online shopping expert Michelle Madhok suggests having a game plan that focuses on only what you need. Or, she advises, "sometimes the best thing you can do is go for a big ticket item."

Even if you drill down toward something specific, the number of products is huge, says Broida, so download the Amazon app and enable alerts. With deals posted every five minutes, it's the best way to keep track.

4. Assuming Prime Day has the best prices

"Not every deal that you are going to see is going to be the best deal in the history of deals," Broida tells CNBC. Amazon products, like Echo Dot and Alexa, will see some of the deepest price cuts, as will tech and electronics.

To know if you're really getting a great deal, Broida suggests an online tool "amusingly called camelcamelcamel.com. You can copy and paste the link from Amazon and see the price history for that product."

Other retailers have noted the success of Prime Day and created their own July sales to lure away some of Amazon's bargain shoppers. "[T]he only way [other big box retailers] will draw attention away from Amazon is through great deals," PwC's Consumer Markets lead Steve Barr told CNBC in 2017. Retailers like Target, Macy's and Walmart are all offering deals too.

5. Not taking advantage of the wait list

Is what you want already sold out? Some deals have a wait list feature. It's worth the click because shoppers often put items in their carts but change their minds before checkout, says Broida, so "you will be notified if it is available again."

6. Making impulse purchases

To avoid overspending, April Benson, Ph.D., the author of “To Buy or Not to Buy: Why We Overshop and How to Stop” tells CNBC you should ask yourself six questions: Why am I here? How do I feel? Do I need this? What if I wait? How will I pay for it? Where will I put it?

If you have good answers, "then it is probably not an impulse purchase,” Benson says.

yeah, I hope you guys buy A LOT ! Bought 4 shares of AMZN for my daughter back in 2012. Think I paid $180 a share for it. May hit $2000 soon. Wish I had bought some shares for myself but I'm sure some of my mutual funds own it.
