Me and my family have diffficulty living on USD $220K + each year; have 4 different car payments; mortgage payments; student loan payments; do eat out at real restaurants regularly; do try to give 2 children meaningfull experiences; it is amazing how I have to put checks in the mail at just the right time (like today); where they will get there in time , and also when funds will be depositted in checking account; like next Monday..>>

LOL; when I was 25 and single; I could live in my car; travel around the country; on much less than $100/day..>>

Watch out fellas..

lol; "A happy idiot."

not trying to be a smart ass or wiseguy, but dang man, thats a hell of alot of money to make and have a difficult time.... i have one toddler and a wife that just recently went back to work part time, since before the baby. We live on a hell of a lot less than 220k. By no means are we wealthy, but we arent struggling, just have a mortgage and a car pymt on wifes car (camry), i own my truck and we have no other debt.
If i made 220k, i damn sure wouldnt have 4 car pymts.....i might have 4 cars, but i'd own them.....with all due respect, do the dave ramsey stuff man, you should never have to have a difficult time making it on 220k a year, i dont care where you live

Wait ! You mail checks ? For what ?

I can't remember the year I last mailed a check. I pay my condo fees by check delivered in person to the treasurer....I drop by and leave it in a dropbox. I pay my property taxes by personal check, but I walk into town hall and do it in person.

I don't like checks and I hate mail....former postal worker. I want it to get there.

That was then, this is now.

I don't now, but when i did i was homeless & eating at the Sisters of the Atonement.

Having a tent in the bush & picking wild berries, or being a guest of Uncle Sam would also do the trick.
Not that i've ever been there ;

You are a survivor X. I like that!!!

4 car payments?? WTF man are you crazy?? No offense but you need some debt counseling or something. What would happen if you lost your job or got disabled some how? I would be willing to bet all the oil in the middle east that you don't have enough money saved up to last 6 months without anything coming in.

So your the reason for all the layoffs.......j/k

http://www.ktvu.com/money/28841838/detail.html

miserable place to work, for sure. Many of the people I worked with were retired military already drawing their military pensions ( some vietnam vets). Every USPS employee is at least 100% overpaid from mailhandler to postmaster general. It's sad when Custodian is the most sought after job....and you nearly need to be a disabled veteran ( like deaf) to get that job.

I became a lead man because nobody senior to me wanted the responsibility for another 50 cents an hour, so I'm a level 5 and everybody else is a 4 and sticks me with the paperwork.

Horrible place morale wise, and it has to be much worse since I quit 9 years ago.

EVERYBODY THERE IS OVERPAID. Most don't give a Shit about their quality of work....I just couldn't do it past 5 years.

Now the USPS doesn't even need to exist, really. We had grunt mailhandlers sucking in like 80-100k with O/T....and cake OT at that. The cake was a blind mailhandler....his wife would drop him off and leave him there for like 12-16 hours a day....do the Math at $20 per hour, like 80k a year.

Abuse was just rampant. There was a union rep guy ( John Longo) that every level of management was afraid of back in New London, CT.on graveyard. He slept at his desk in a dark corner of this 90 year old office, rarely was ever awake. He's retired now, dude got paid to sleep and maybe drink coffee and eat donuts, read somebody's magazines, etc....but he was the union rep ( for just the clerks union).

Your average mail carrier however earns their pay ( sort of). That can be a tough 50k job ( by postal standards) or cake if you have the right rural route. Lots of those people walk many miles a day with a load, some mailhandlers work hard too, most USPS employees are unneeded.

I could go on and on....

back to $100 a day, if that means $700 a week or 36,500 a year, it's very doable.. that is $17.50 / hour if based on a normal 40 hour week , but you get paid every day. Now at 5 days a week it becomes 500 wk/ 26k yr/ 12.50 hr....that's going to be tough to live on in a cheap city like Vegas, forget San Diego, Boston,SF, etc.

That 26k ( if single) is liveable in a cheap area, but you would be lower lower middle class/ upper poor class in a cheap area. You should be able to rent an apartment ( maybe have a roommate) have plenty of money to buy food with, a car is a maybe, perhaps a scooter instead of a car. It would be just ekeing by but not dumpster diving for food type of poor....basically 50% of America.

when you are single it is easy to live cheap

even cheaper for two to live together ( unless one is your wife). Two single people as say roommates would lower costs dramatically as opposed to living in one bedroom apt's or such. There is a ton of savings between your own studio and a 2 BR with a roommate....but the lack of having your own exclusive pad.

Shit like Cable, Internet, phone can easily be shared expenses, meals are easier with more people....like split a pizza or cook something.

A studio might be say $1,000 and a 2 br might be $1350 ( variable hugely by area), way cheaper with a roommate when you then split the cable, etc. bills. living alone is awesome, but not too feasible on a low budget...

Or 3 or more people in a house. It's tough to afford a housing unit for one person, if you can do that, you are not poor. You can do it on $100 a day.....in some places in the USA.
