Could an unscrupulous book steal from your Neteller account?

This has not happened, and I've never heard of it happening, but I'm just curious if y'all think such a thing is feasible...

Since many books allow you to deposit from your Neteller account into your betting account DIRECTLY from the book's site (without necessarily logging into Neteller), what's to stop a book from taking your money right out of your Neteller account, especially once they have your account ID and password?

Of course, this would be an extremely boneheaded thing for a book to do, but when you consider the lengths to which BML went to rip off Darryl Parsons of $1000, I don't believe anything is impossible. Although Neteller has records of every deposit/withdrawal that goes in and out of their system, what's to stop the book from claiming that the player deposited the money through the book's site? With no cops or overseers (other than the Prescription and a few others) there's really no one to enforce the integrity of transactions...

..in essence, my question to all of you is, do you feel comfortable with large sums of money sitting in your Neteller accounts, and have absolutely no fear of it ever being stolen, hacked, etc.?

Just curious to see how much we all trust Neteller...

Dog....it could happen BUT most books do not have both of the passwords to get into your account..they either have one or the other

They absolutely can get in. All a book needs is a valid e-mail and your account number. As far as I know they can only pay out to your account though.

Do yourselves a favor and never keep much money in Neteller. No need to. You should have your money in a sportsbook.

I don't know if a book can just take the money out of your Neteller account but they can take the deposit amount TWICE. It happened to me. Don't know should I mention the books name (they are advertiser here). I was using their own Neteller deposit system and everything was fine until I thought to log into my Neteller account to make sure the balance would match. The history was showing two transfers (exact same times) instead of one. I didn't click the confirm button twice or anything.

Anyway, my betting account was credited with the missing money the next day after Neteller started investigations and contacted the book.

BLANK- First off, welcome to the RX. What happened to you doesnt sound as if it were the books or Netellers problem. Probably a computor glitch. I remembering this happening to me in the past. Just happy that you got everything straightened out. Enjoy your time here at THE PRESCRIPTION.

dogs24 and others - The answer is a big NO!

Books CANNOT access your NETeller account to withdraw money. They DO NOT have access to your NETeller "Secure ID" which is needed to transfer funds from your account to the books account.

Whenever you transfer monies to and from NETeller whether you are on the sportsbooks site or are on NETellers site...you are ALWAYS making the transfer within the security of NETellers website and STT (Secure Transfer Terminal)
The transfer request info goes DIRECTLY to NETeller and no where else.

The sportsbook only sees the completed transaction,whether it was successful or not, the amount, tranaction number etc...only if you are tranfering monies to that book.

Everyone be careful. Be on the defensive and wary of what could happen. Just dont use neteller for a bank account.

hey IB ,
you stated that the sportsbooks do not have your secure id..but in my case they do. when depositing money into my book (oly) they ask for account number and secure id... and when withdrawing money from them to transfer back to neteller theyt asked for account number and password. I posted this yesterday and really felt uncomfortable about this. I changed my password but am still uneasy about it. I am not claiming any wrong doing ,as a matter of fact I think oly is a great book they processed my transfer rather quickly, but I do not like all the info required.

Never give out a password like that. Good move on changing it.

As for the rest of the knuckleheads on this board... how many of you have the same password on your sportsbook account as your Neteller account? If so, change it!

bruceman - NETeller tells you on their site to NEVER give out your Secure ID.

Oly doesn't your secure ID to do a NETeller transfer.
The clerk shouldn't of asked for it. I suggest you talk to a manager about this at Oly right away as it doesn't sound kohser.

BTW you should be able to do all your NETeller transactions securely online...with any book.

And remember NEVER give out your secure ID ! Period. NEVER!

Contact NETeller about this and they will help.

A clerk did not ask for my secure Id i processed my deposit through the website.
on their "neteller dposit funds page"it asks for the following:
firstname lastname neteller acount number secure id (i am actually at the page now)

and as stated earlier when requesting a withdrawal neteller account number and "password" is asked for.

If you are on the NETeller page it should be a secure page -> https <- the 'S' is for secure.

This page is actually connected to NETeller. When you typed in your 'secure ID' and password you were sending it to NETeller and NOT Olympic.

Olympic NEVER received your secure ID or password....only NETeller.

it is an olympic page not neteller.it is through their site.

now when processing a withdrawal it is through the neteller page

You can contact NETeller to confirm this.

Now to be REALLY paranoid!!! How about Neteller accessing your Bank Acct.??? I know, I know, but worst case scenario. I guess you have to trust somebody if you`re going to move $$.
