Arizona Diamondback starting pitcher Patrick Corbin is 5-0 1.75 ERA and has allowed two or fewer runs in at least six Innings Pitched in his first seven starts. Corbin was 6-8 4.54 ERA in 22 games 17 starts last season but has hit his stride this year backed with a 3:1 K/BB ratio and a 1.06 WHIP. Arizona is undefeated in Corbin's starts. Corbin will face an Atlanta team who finally broke through last night with the bats matching a season high 10 runs on 13 hits, 4 doubles and 3 HR's. Atlanta's win last night broke a three game losing streak but will be challenged tonight if Corbin is a tough as advertised. J. Upton really delivered yesterday going 4 for 5 with a double a HR and 2 RBI's. Upton is .458 with 5 HR's and 11 RBI's in the his last 12 games at Chase Field. Teheran is 2-0 4.84 ERA overall but Teheran has improved over the course of the season with a 2.79 ERA in last three outings. Atlanta is 7-0 in Teheran's starts but will have to find a way to get to Corbin adding run support to add to Teherans outing. Goldschmidt is 10 for 26 with 5 HR's 10 RBI's in his past eight games and Teheran can ill afford to play cat and mouse with Goldschmidt who can make the young rookie pay. Teheran has made some adjusments with his grip working to improve his change up but cannot afford to experiment with pitches tonight. Atlanta is still number one in the NL at K's with 9.2 per game. If Corbin finds his strikeout groove tonight vs Atlanta Corbin may be indeed as tough as advertised. Source: ESPN MLB Preview.
