Conn Smythe Trophy

Sportsbook right now has Crosby at -200 to win the Conn Smythe Trophy.

My question is, if they lose in the finals to the Red Wings, will Crosby still win the Conn Smythe Trophy?

Reason I ask is because my buddy is trying to get me to bet Zetterberg to win at +800 b/c he thinks if the Red Wings win, Zetterberg will win the Conn Smythe.

My counter was that Crosby is going to win it no matter the outcome of the finals.

Crosby would likely win if the Penguins win the cup or LOSE in game # 7.


I seriously doubt ANY penguin can possibly win however if the wings win the cup in 6 or less, so laying -200 on crosby is no lock at all (IMO)

imo I think Malkin will have a better series than Crosby, the guy was possessed in round 3 and I look for that to continue, He wont be a non factor this year like he was in last years finals..

Their both 9-10 points up on any Wing right now. I can possibly see one of them winning it in a tight series. Especially if one or the other really separates himself from the other point wise.

I believe that this series will go 7 games with Pittsburgh pulling out a huge upset win in game 1 @ the Joe and Detroit getting a big W @ the Igloo in game 4, series tied at 2 heading back to Detroit.. Its kinda fun predicting the outcome but I really can't wait till tomorrow when they drop the puck and the big show begins, It will be a real exciting rematch to say the least..

I like Franzen to win if , he's been the most consistant score for the Wings, but it depends on Finals play. I would not take Zetterberg because IMO they do not like to give it to a guy that has already won it, especially not last year.

If the Wings win....and thats IF*.......Osgood is a slam dunk....mark it down! If the Pens lose....Crosby CANT win it...yes, I said he CANT.....the only players in recent memory that won the Conn Smyth on losing teams....both were goalies....Giguire against the Devils...and Hextall against the Oilers....If you want a long shot....take Marc Andre Fleury....chances are, if the Pens win...he will have had to stand on his head....Just my opinion....
