Co-worker here (knows very little of computers) said her home computer all of a sudden had mouse problems. Would jump around all over the screen (I think she said the scroll feature was shot as well) which made it hard for her to navigate her internet.

Here is what I know:

1) It started happening while surfing a travel website....not the website cause she said she went to multiple ones.

2) She bought a new mouse with the same errors

3) There is NO anti-virus software of any kind

4) I told her to bring in the old mouse so I can check it....works fine on my work computer.

Any ideas? makes it harder since I can't physically see the computer (and diagnose)

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

she has an optical mouse (I assume both) so before I declare her computer virus-infected, I was thinking to have her try a mouse with the ball thinking she may have recently switched mouse pad/surface to a lighter color.....

....i've had issues with this before....or is this extremely rare?
