I was thinking of the Pro Bowl and what a joke it is. As I was putting so much thought on that matter, I had an idea.

What about a consolation game for the losers of the AFC/NFC title games?

Does that sound fun?

i might be mistaken, but when i was a kid,
i remember something like that. kind of like
the ncaa's had a game for 3rd place in the tourney.

I cant see either team wanting to play,injuries only would be enough for the teams to say no.Imagine you lose Marshall Faulk for a year in the consolation bowl

NCAA basket tourney had one, yes.

Till they figured out it was completly idiotic.

Some leagues would play the full championship series (best of 5, best of 7, etc) even when the series was already clinched!!!!!!!!

But this was many decades ago.

The NFL used to have a third place game between the runner ups from each conference, back in the 50's, and very early 60's. I remember The Lions playing in several. The Pro-Bowl as we know it today started in 1971, matching the NFC All Pros vs. the AFC All Pros. The game moved around several warm weather US cities, until finding its permanent home in Honolulu in 1980. The game in 1971 paid $2000 to winning players and $1500 to the losers. Last year the winners got $30,000 and the losers $15,000.

An NCAA Championship and NFL Super Bowl all at the same venue and on the same day! Imagine that, you have the biggest sporting spectacular ever IMO...NCAA game kicks at 1pm, and the Super Bowl kicks off around 7pm...It would be the most anticipated event of each year....

NCAA Game 1pm @ Pasadena California

USC vs OKLAHOMA

NFL Super Bowl 7pm

Philadelphia vs New England

IT WOULD NOT GET ANY BETTER FROM A FANS STANDPOINT! Imagine the hype for this ....
