Colorado State or Marshall?

Who represents the "Group of 5" in the Committee's Bowl Game this season? I think the answer is really a no brainer. If Colorado State defeates Air Force this week at the Academy, they obviously deserve to go. Colorado State played and defeated Colorado and Boston College. The toughest team that Marshall played is Rice. None of their non-con FBS opponents won more than 5 games. None are Power 5 teams. I think a Fiesta Bowl with Colorado State facing the winner of the Arizona State-Arizona game would draw much more interest than a Peach Bowl between Marshall and Georgia. Comments guys?

I think Boise St. is still in the mix as well since they hold the tie breaker over CSU. Can CSU still get the nod even if they don't win the Mountain West? Boise does have a tough game this week against a pesky Utah St. squad on the blue turf. CSU is two spots behind Marshall in the AP and 1 behind in the coaches poll. That would be a huge boost for their program getting invited to a major bowl game. Solid hire getting Mcelwain the OC from Bama and smart to lock him up with the huge buyout as well. Seems like a much easier path for Marshall though, just needs to get past Western Kentucky and then either La Tech or Rice in the C-USA championship game.

if marshall can win out and finish undefeated, wouldn't you have to give them the shot? don't care if it pop warner, still difficult to go 13-0, especially when everyone is giving you their best effort to knock you off! the regular season play out first, then see what happens. herd had their first off game last week against uab, but still won. fla.state skates by every week

Tough call. I agree with junk that colo st probably wins the "eye-test" BUT i also agree with dreamer that marshalls record (if they remain unbeaten) should be acknowledged.

...And , if it is the Fiesta Bowl and a pac-12 team , i think marshall's ability to score makes them the more appealing match-up.

The way it is set up, Marshall goes to the Peach Bowl if selected, or Colorado State/Boise State goes to the Fiesta Bowl if selected.

Looks like they ranked Boise St. at #23 just ahead of Marshall #24, while Colorado St. failed to reach the top 25 in the CFP Rankings. So that would put Boise in the drivers seat provided they can take care of Utah St. this weekend and then win the MWC Champ game as well.

Let's be honest here....neither of those teams win more than 2 games, if that, in the SEC or PAC. They don't go .500 in the Big 12 or Big 10. It's ridiculous that they are even in the conversation.

Don't get me wrong....there are years that those leagues have a team that's really good. This year isn't that year.

Yeah, but its sometimes fun to see the David vs dis-interested Goliath Bowl game upset. Who can forget the 2009 Sugar Bowl(Utah beats Bama) or the 2007 Fiesta Bowl(Boise beats Oklahoma).

An interesting angle towards the upcoming Mountain West & C-USA title games is that the opposing teams have a financial incentive to lose in order to get their conference into the BCS game and take home a slice of that Bowl pie. I suppose one could even argue that the refs calling those games might as well?
