I see a few people on Pheonix tonight, and was just wondering if I have overlooked something??

Pheonix will be with out 2 more starters tonight as Savage and Numminen are sitting out, they are 2-4 at home so far this year (Brutal road sched early in the season!) Colorado has played like crap at home, but sport an OK road record this year going 5-1-1-2 on the road.

I know Roy has been struggling as of late since returning from his hip injury, but I think Colorado coming off their first road loss vs Dallas will be ready for a depleted Coyote team

I see the line on the Avalanche -.5 is dropping from -125 to -107.

Games with Boucher starting have reached 5 goals 11 out of 13 times, and 5 out of 6 at home

Games with Roy starting this year have reached 5 8 out of 12 times, and actually the last 8 games in a row he has started have reached 5 goals. 5 of his 6 games on the road this year have reached 5 goals

Pheonix has scored at least 2 goals in 9 of their last 10 games, even with the injuries (and Numminen is a big player for their D) I think they should score 2 again tonight, and with Numminen out I think Colorado may be able to capitalize and score atleast 4 (they have reached at least 2 in their last 16 games)

Of course the last time I posted some reasoning, I got killed as the Isles layed down for the Bruins and a 2-2 tie tonight will not surprise me /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif. But, if we all post a little info on the way we are thinking, it can only help the forum!!

Just me, but I think Colorado and the Over are the plays any input appreciated.

Thought about this one Scoob, but it is the third game in four nites for Colorado tonite, all on the road. Phenoix starts a three game home stand tonite. Could be a bad spot for the Avs.

Couldn't pull the trigger on the dog either. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Maybe if Big Al is around he might help us sort this one out......

Today's game is the second of four meetings this season between Phoenix and Colorado...Colorado won the first game of the season series, 3-2, at America West Arena on Oct. 22. Today's game is the first of a three-game homestand, which continues Wednesday vs Dallas and concludes on Friday vs Florida. Including today, the Coyotes play 15 of their next 20 games at home. Colorado is wrapping up a three-game road trip that took them through Nashville (W, 3-1), Dallas(L, 4-2) and Phoenix in four days.

Phoenix Coyotes Notes
FIVE IN ONE: On Nov. 15 at Atlanta, Claude Lemieux, Tony Amonte, Mike Johnson, Landon Wilson and Daniel Briere all scored a goal for the Coyotes. It was the first time the Coyotes had five different players light the lamp since Apr. 14, 2002 vs. NSH, when Ladislav Nagy (2), Radoslav Suchy, Paul Mara, Teppo Numminen and Claude Lemieux all recorded goals for the Coyotes.

AHEAD OF PACE: Last season, Daniel Briere, Daymond Langkow, Paul Mara and Ladislav Nagy all set career highs in points. All four players are even with or ahead of last year's pace. The following are each player's respective points after 18 games played in the 2001-02 season and after 18 games played this season.

2001-02 2002-03
Player G A Pts G A Pts.
Daniel Briere 9 1 10 5 7 12
Ladislav Nagy 1 1 2 2 7 9
Daymond Langkow 4 4 8 1 7 8
Paul Mara 3 3 6 3 5 8

WILSON WITH THE WINNER: Forward Landon Wilson has scored three of the Coyotes' seven game winning goals this season. His 3 GWGs ranks T-5th in the NHL, trailing only DET's Sergei Fedorov (5) and WSH's Jaromir Jagr (4), TOR's Alexander Mogilny (4) and EDM's Mike Comrie (4)...Wilson has also tied his previous single season career high in GWGs (3 in '0-01) and actually equalled his career total of 3 GWGs prior to this season...Wilson has scored GWGs for the Coyotes in the following games this season: Oct. 14 at CBJ (4-2 W), Oct. 29 at NYI (3-2 W) and Nov. 7 vs MIN (4-1 W).

POWER PLAYERS: So far this season, the Coyotes power play has clicked for 16 goals. The wealth has been spread around as 10 different players (Numminen, Nagy, Doan, Mara, Lemieux, Suchy, Johnson, Langkow, Amonte and Briere) have scored the 15 PPGs during the stretch…The Coyotes' 3 PPGs on Oct. 14 at CBJ marked the first time the Coyotes had recorded 3 PPGs in a game since last year's home opener (Oct. 13, 2001 vs WSH)...The Coyotes have scored at least one PPG in 10 of the last 15 games.

FINALLY SOME HOME COOKIN': The Coyotes began the 2002-03 season by playing 9 of their first 12 games on the road (4-7-0-1 record during that stretch). The Coyotes are now in a stretch which sees them play 18 of 26 games at home including a 9-game home stand from Dec. 3-20. The 9-game home stand is the longest in franchise history and tied (with Carolina) for the longest in the NHL this season.

ROAD WARRIORS: The Coyotes have a 5-6-0-1 record in 12 road games this season. Only Boston (6) and St. Louis (6) have more road wins in the NHL than the Coyotes.

FIRST ROUND FINDS: The Coyotes roster currently boasts 11 players who were drafted in the 1st round of the NHL Entry Draft: Daniel Briere ('96), Daymond Langkow ('95), Shane Doan ('95), Paul Mara ('97), Landon Wilson ('93), Brad May ('90), Krystofer Kolanos ('00), Drake Berehowsky ('90), Brian Boucher ('95), Andrei Nazarov ('92) and Patrick DesRochers ('98). In addition, there are 5 players on the Coyotes current roster who were drafted in the 2nd round: Sean Burke ('85), Ossi Vaananen ('98), Claude Lemieux ('83), Teppo Numminen ('86) and Deron Quint ('94).

REIGNING IRON MAN: Tony Amonte owns the NHL's longest consecutive games played streak at 428 straight games…Amonte has missed only two regular season games over the last nine seasons…In his entire 13-year NHL career, Amonte has missed only 8 games and has played in 879 of a possible 887 games...Amonte last missed a regular season game on Apr. 13, 1997 at DAL -- a coach's decision to rest Amonte for the final regular season game. Had it not been for that decision prior to the playoffs, Amonte's streak would now be at 566straight games…The following is a list of the NHL's top current consecutive games played streaks:

Player Teams Consec. GP Prior to '02-03 GP in '02-03 Current GP Streak
1. TONY AMONTE CHI, PHX (410) (18) 428
2. Robert Svehla FLA, TOR (300) (18) 318

BALANCED ATTACK: The Coyotes have 9 players on their current roster who have recorded at least 20 goals in a season: Tony Amonte, Daniel Briere, Kelly Buchberger, Shane Doan, Mike Johnson, Daymond Langkow, Claude Lemieux, Ladislav Nagy and Brian Savage.

BRIERE TOPS THE COYOTES IN PRESEASON: For the second consecutive preseason, Daniel Briere led the Coyotes in scoring. Last year, Briere led the entire NHL with 3-8-11 in 6 preseason games. This season, Briere tied Mike Johnson (0-5-5 in 5 games) for the team lead in preseason points with 3-2-5 in 4 games.

Colorado Avalanche Notes

PURSUING HISTORY:
The Avalanche heads into the 2002-03 season in search of its ninth consecutive division title as an organization. Currently tied with the Montreal Canadiens for the longest streak in NHL history, the Avalanche would not only assume the NHL's longest streak of division supremacy, but would stake move alongside some of the greatest franchises' in all of professional sports for winning consecutive division titles:
- The longest division title streak in major professional sports belongs to the Atlanta Braves who just claimed their 11th division title this year dating back to 1991…
- The NBA's record for consecutive divisional crowns belongs to both the Boston Celtics (1957-65) and LA Lakers (1982-90).
- The NFL's longest division title reign was by the LA Rams (1973-79).

PATRICK'S CLIMB TO THE TOP:
Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy has captured an exclusive pair of NHL milestones:
- Surpassed Terry Sawchuk for the NHLs all-time record of Games Played by a goaltender 10/24 in Phoenix (972nd appearance)
- Eclipsed Sawchuk's all-time mark for minutes played by a goaltender (57,194) at the 10:00 mark of the third period 11/15 at DAL
- Roy will reach the 60,000 minute mark in approximately 46 games and the 1,000 Games Played plateau in 22 games
- Patrick currently stands tied with Dominik Hasek for 12th all-time in shutouts (61)…he's the NHL's all-time shutout leader among active goaltenders. Next up: Turk Broda 1936-52 (62), Roy Worters 1925-37 (67)

SELLOUT SUCCESS:
In its eighth season in Colorado, the Avalanche franchise boasts a current home sellout streak of 356 games (including post-season).
- This streak dates back to Nov. 9, 1995 vs. the Dallas Stars, the first game of the sellout run, and just the eighth home game in Avalanche history.

LABOR INTENSIVE:
Tonight's game marks the 428th game (including post-season) the Avalanche has played since the start of the 1998-99 season, most among NHL franchises. In addition, the Avalanche has won an NHL-best (tied with Detroit) 16 post-season series since 1996 and has advanced as far as the Conference Finals in each of the last four seasons and six of its last seven.

AVS N' COYOTES:
- Patrick Roy owns an 23-8-3 record against the Coyotes franchise (2.30 GAA, 3 SOs)
- Milan Hejduk scored his first career goal against Phoenix on 10/24, the only team (with 10+ games played) he hadn't scored on prior
- Scott Parker has tallied two of his three career goals against Phoenix (both against Phoenix in the 2000-01 season)
- Colorado is 16-15-6 all-time against the Coyotes franchise on the road...9-5-1 since 1995
- The Avalanche and Coyotes have split the season series each of the last three seasons (2-2-0)

ROAD RECORD:
Colorado opened up the season unbeaten in regulation in its first eight games this season (5-0-1-2) establishing a new franchise record for the fastest start on the road (prev. 2000-01 5-0-2)...since Bob Hartley's first season in Colorado (1998-99), the Avalanche is second amongst NHL clubs in road success.

- New Jersey Devils 91 - 58 - 19 .598
- Colorado Avalanche 90 - 62 - 21 .581
- Dallas Stars 88 - 60 - 26 .580
- Detroit Red Wings 84 - 63 - 23 .562
- St. Louis Blues 82 - 63 - 25 .557

A LOOK BACK:
Point comparisons over the eight seasons of Avalanche hockey (thru 18 games):

96-97 25pts.
97-98 24pts.
98-99 16pts.
99-00 20pts.
00-01 29pts.
01-02 15pts.
02-03 19pts.
AVG. 22.1pts.

SHOTS A' PLENTY:
- Colorado recorded a season-high 51 shots 11/12 vs. CBJ, most since the club registered 50 shots on net March 1, 1999 vs. EDM...it was the most shots allowed by Columbus in it's three year history
- The 50 shot effort is one of three 40+ shot nights for Colorado...11 30+ shot games...30+ shots in four of its last six games
- Colorado is averaging 31.9 shots on net per game (3rd overall in the NHL)

ALL-STAR BALLOTING:
Colorado boasts seven players listed on this season's NHL All-Star fan ballot, tied with New Jersey and Detroit for most from any team. This year's Avalanche nominee list includes (Rob Blake, Adam Foote, Peter Forsberg, Milan Hejduk, Derek Morris, Patrick Roy, Joe Sakic)

RED-HOT CAPTAIN JOE:
- Tallied three-consecutive multi-goal games from 10/31-11/2...second time in his career (last: Mar. 2-7, 2000)
- His 11 goals in 18 games matches his second-best start to a season from a goal scoring standpoint...His best start: 1992-93 (15 goals in 18 games)...he also started quickly in his rookie year 1988-89 & again in 1995-96 when he recorded 11 goals in his first 18 games.

HE'S BACK...
Despite missing the entire 2001-02 regular season, Peter Forsberg has returned without missing a beat. His 21 points (7g/14a) in 18 games this season is on par with the pace he set in years past:

GP G A PT
1994-95 18 3 9 12
1995-96 18 8 20 28
1996-97 18 8 16 24
1997-98 18 4 17 21
1998-99 18 6 19 25
1999-00 18 6 18 24
2000-01 18 11 10 21

THE FORSBERG FACTOR:
When Peter Forsberg scores a goal, its a sign of bad things to come for the opposition as the Avs are 64-5-14-2 (.847) since 1997 when Forsberg finds the back of the net and 98-12-17-2 (.834) since 1995. Forsberg is also one of the NHL's premiere playmakers, currently fourth in league history for career assists per game:
- Wayne Gretzky (1.32)
- Mario Lemieux (1.16)
- Bobby Orr (.98)
- Peter Forsberg (.88)
Over its last 29 regular season games in which Forsberg scores, the Avs are 24-0-3-2 in those games...including 4-0-2 this season

FAST START:
Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote is off to a fast start...again. His nine points (2g/7a) in his first 18 games is his second fastest start in his career...Foote's best start came in 2000 & 2001 when he tallied 11 points (1g/10a) in the first 18 games of those seasons

POWER PLAY:
- Colorado had its five-game power play streak halted 10/24 in Phoenix...it was the club's longest PP goal streak since the 2000-01 season
- The Avs tallied PP goals in four consecutive games twice last season (season-best)...the last time: April 7-14 to end the season
- Colorado recorded one eight-game; one six-game and two four-game PP streaks during the 2000-01 season
- Colorado has tallied PP goals in 13 of its 18 games and six of its last seven games

WORKIN' OVERTIME:
Colorado has played overtime in seven of its 14 games to begin the season, producing a 0-3-4 record in those games:

AVS IRONMEN:
- Martin Skoula has played in 222 games consecutively; longest streak on the roster
- Joe Sakic has played in 212 consecutive games
- Greg DeVries carries a games-played streak of 119 into tonight's game

YOUNG GUNS:
Colorado is among the Top Ten youngest clubs in the NHL coming into the 2002-03 season (average age on NHL rosters as of 10/13):
1) Florida (25.0)
2) Edmonton (26.5)

Hey bushay, I'm willing to bet that you are the only loser in this hockey forum that read all that. Even a deadbeat like me who is in last place wouldn't even touch that crap. Why bother man!!

I sure hope you copied and pasted that, and not typed all that. I'd feel really sorry for you if you typed all that and wasted your time. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks Bushay, all info is good to see and appreciated bud!

Seeya, U see thats why I posted this...yup I can't believe I missed the 3 in 4 and all on the raod!! I even have the list of them for this week right next to me LOL

Can't go against that, I have tried before (not a lot) and it seems they road team in this situation lose about 75% of the time. Like you, I can not go with the other side in this one either.

Still looking at the over though, always tough with Roy in net, and they may be tired...will wait and see on that one LOL
