I put cheap earplugs in when I go to movies ...
I wear the heavy duty headset ones ( suitable for running a jackhammer) when my wife is bitchy ( that's most of the time) I never go anywhere without them and have no qualms about putting them on in a restaurant when children are around. I would never fly without them.
