College baseball Sunday

Maine +175

Guys, I am following the whole tournament pretty closely, as I have for about the past 20 years, but in particular I am watching the Oxford regional. Winky says to bet the chalk in college baseball, and as a rule that is very true, however we have a live dog in Maine. They looked much better destroying Southern Miss yesterday 12-2 than Oklahoma did beating the same team 5-4 on Friday. Of course, you can't go by such things alone in baseball (or any sport) but Maine has simply looked much better. Also, and this is the 'maine' point, Maine is in much better shape pitching wise. Their #3 guy has about as good a record as the first two, while Oklahoma has already gone through their pitching stock and were undecided about today's starter at last word. I like our chances here, and the above price might even get juicier. This is from Olympic and Pinnacle hasn't put out their lines yet.

The winner of this one gets to play Ole Miss again, and I imagine I will have an even larger play on the Rebels in the 2nd game today.

Not as massive of a swing as it appears. Pinnacle is taking away the +243 and giving us Maine +4 for -130. Let's see, I'm picking them to win, do I want +4 runs given to me? I just bet them again!

+4 runs is a gift! That's incredible! Oklahoma is not a power baseball team that's going to score a lot of runs against a decent pitcher. Maine all the way!

Here's another tidbit. The guys from Maine have won the hearts of the large crowd, and Mississippians will be pulling for Maine over Oklahoma today.

I think you're getting over hyped on this play.

Maine is not that good, they are never good they are a sub par team. Oklahoma isn't very good but at least they are average. They are on another level in baseball then Maine is, they hosted their own regional last year.

I think this line is dead on for once and I'm not touching it, just be careful with betting them over and over again.
I don't have this game so, I'll be rooting for you buddy.

They havn't won the hearts of the crowd, Oklahoma is the better team and every regional host roots for the worse team to win. Mississippi would much rather play Maine who isnt known for baseball instead of Oklahoma.

don't know much about Maine - but they are a #4 seed and come from a weak conference and while OU isn't a threat to win it all - if we are only talking about winning the game - gimme a Big XII school over Maine almost anytime

No score so far in the Maine/Okla game. If anyone played this game, remember that you can watch it on the Internet at the above address. I still feel really good about my pick on Maine. A live college dog is hard to find.

Remember that as soon as they put up a line with the winner of this game against Ole Miss, get down on Ole Miss, as the line will rise after it's put up. Ole Miss has plenty of unused pitchers so far, and their 'Sunday' pitcher (see Winky's thread), pitching today, would be the 'Friday' pitcher for many teams. Rebels should have no problem with the winner of this game, whose pitching staff will be considerably more depleted.

Good luck, Reb. Not questioning your pick, you may be dead on the money. I just agree with how winky puts it. Gimme a big 12 school over a small school like Maine anytime, but not for that price. But you may be on to something.

Oh, my, Oklahoma wins 11-10 and Maine had the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth. Wow, oh so close.

Well, like I said, that +4 was definitely the one to go with, and that +243 was definitely worth a shot. Turns out I break even on this game, and I'm very happy I placed the second wager at +4. Almost made a lot, but not this time.

Guys, it has been a hot and muggy afternoon in Oxford, and Oklahoma has to be about wilted by now. Now they have to face a red hot Ole Miss team coming at them with a pitcher who has been red hot in his last few games.

I like Ole Miss better tonight than I did in the first two games, which both won rather handily.

Rebs, didnt like betting on Maine over a big 12 school, but you were definitely on to something. They played them tougher than expected, and you hit with that run line. Nice job.

I like the Rebels tonight too but I have to see the line. I'm guesssing it opens up at -300.

Not just the weather, but the extra game puts the challenger at a severe disadvnatage because they played the extra game, but used extra pitchers too. The 1 seeds have huge advantages in some of these championships, but there is some good value with some of the underdogs.

You are right, Box, I can't imagine who the Sooners have left to pitch, and their bullpen is definitely worn out.

Yep, we'll have to lay some money to win with the Rebs, but I will be totally shocked if they don't win.
