We don`t seem to have players staying in college long enough anymore, gone are the days when you could off the top of your head mention 2-3 guys as the player of the year candidates...Ewing`s, Sampson`s, Olajuwon`s , it unheard of to have a multi time player of the year any longer..

Also, the true center position is facing extinction....

My POY would be Okafor from UConn.

I agree with you that the overall talent in CBB is depleted as players are entering the NBA yonger and younger.

I definitely disagree with you that it is difficult to name the top candidates of the top of your head THIS year. Nelson and Okafor will clearly go 1-2, with Nelson winning rather easily.

I hope UConn plays St Joes as then u will see who is the Okafor is a top 5 pick, U Conn would crush St Joe's . St Joes plays in the A-10 which is a joke this season, if they played in the ACC would St Joes make the NCAA's

I think your right about st. joes...but still their PG is awsome, he would be a top 5 pick for me as player of the year.

North Carolina would beat St Joes easy, Felton would break down West and St Joes has no answer for McCants or May

Nelson wouldn't be top 5 player in the ACC

Redick , Pickett, Gray are all better guards

He wouldn't avg what he does now in ACC or Big East

Um.....no.

Nelson is better than all three of those. It's really not even that close.

Though, you are right about St. Joe's as a team. They are one of the top 3 most overrated teams in the country.

Nelson is the best guard and the best player in college basketball this year hands down. St. Joe's has had an easy run being in the dreadful A-10 but they are a decent team. They play great pressure defense and when they hit their perimiter shots they are very diffucult to beat even without any kind of inside presence what so ever.

What I mean is there aren`t the 5-6 household names in the college ranks year in and year out anymore..

I believe St.Joe`s may surprise people , the guards are awesome...

Gonzaga could be for real this time, probably the deepest team in the country as they use 11 players legitimately...

St.Joe's would be very solid in the ACC but not better than Wake or Duke, maybe 3rd or 4th....many young guards in the ACC all are very good... Chris Paul has to be the best young point guard in the country!

Gotta be Jameer Nelson without a doubt. Look at how he has lead his team and comes through in the clutch. I see an Iverson type with a better jumper and less attitude in Nelson. Okafor is overrated and a fraud as for as player of the year is concerned. I'm disappointed in his performance this year. He has a lot to work on such as his free throw shooting and coming to play HARD every game. The freshmen from Pitt Taft made him look mediocre twice this year.

journeyman, didn't mean to come across as arrogant, although maybe I did.

This really isn't my opinion, but fact. Miller will finsh first, with Okafor finishing second.

I personally don't think St. Joe's is better than Duke. Do they have the firepower to beat them in one tournament game? Yes. Would they beat them 6 out of 10? Absolutely not.

St. Joe's really hasn't faced anybody with a strong inside game. other than a Tufiaf-less Zaga team. This year's tourney looks to wide-open once again, similar to last year. Should make for some exciting games. Personally, I've grown tired of watching these last few weeks of conference play. I can't wait for the madness.
