It is amazing he gets the players he does. Duke seems to be curced when it comes to actual NBA talent. So maybe that does make him a great NCAA coach, because he never has NBA talent. Grant Hill was probably the best player (NBA level) to come out of that place, and he has been crippled since he graduated. BUt he does win, so that makes good coaching I guess.
BUT, because high school kids are jumping directly to the NBA it does make winning with mediocre talent a little easier.
Until this year only 6 guys had won an NBA title in the past 20 years. That says that coaching DOES matter to me a little bit. Talent obviously helps, but when it is the same guys year in year out, that says something.
Ironically Rudy T is one of those guys. So to me he is an obvious choice. He was the first guy they talked to, but might be a little put off by the K craze. That stunt may have bit the Lakers in the ass.
But if Kobe is palaying the "I am in charge BS" then they won't get anyone, and the Lakers will become Philly west. Kobe jacking it up 50 times a game surrounded by scrubs that he wouldn't pass the ball to if he had all five guys guarding him.
But Shaq will be back, no other team can take him except Sacramento, and even though it sort ofmakes sense I doubt it would ever happen.
