RSS,
First thanks for the compliment, but I am just one of many very solid and awesome cappers here.
As far as buying points is concerned, for me it is done because of a gut feeling I have. I just do not like certain numbers in BB, and especially do not like that hanging .5pt on the end of the number. I have no systems to back up why I do it, it is just a feeling I have. One thing to know about me, is before I started wagering offshore, I played only with locals here in Hawaii, as the internet and Offshore thing wasnt around or was fairly new. Here in Hawaii the vig is set at 20%, nothing more and nothing less. That has been the way it always is and still is to now. So, when this Offshore came about and with the lower vig amounts, because I am so use to setting my bankroll to adjust for a 20% vig, having the ability to play a game at 10%, or 5%, or even at even bet was unreal for me. So buying point was actually nothing for me as it would still be under the 20% I was use to or it brought it to the 20% I was used to.
As far as what you should do. Hey, if it is working for you and you feel comfortable with doing it and your winning. Then do what is working. You are not smart if you stop doing what is working for you because others feel that it is wrong or they think you shouldnt mainly because they dont do it themselves. Bottom line is that if something is working, dont change it. If it is not working and you continue to do this, then I say that is not good way to manage your money.
Just remember, for me I am not that strict on my money managements as many here. I dont mind paying the extra cost, especially on my bigger plays, as I just want to prevent somehow in what I like to call the "shit happening scenerio". To me dropping an extra 10% to make me feel alittle more confident is worth the price. Now I know others will say that if your not absolutely sure of a play hitting them why play it so big. Like I said Shit happen we all know that, I just like to protect against it if it does. I am expect it wont show up, but it seems to alway do somehow.
Lastly, be aware that the ones who are telling that is not smart to do have a valid point, if you are following a strict Money Management system like they are. Yes than this is not smart, unless you have made some allowance for times like these pretaining to your bankroll. If not, then it could throw your mm system off. You may be better off having at least 5 different outs, to get the best lines so you dont have to buy points. But still sometimes you just cant get the lines you like at any of these places as all have the same line. Then you only option is to not play it or to buy the pt. In this event, I would only take the chance if I was confident in the play and also not for many games, as one or two losses can again, throw your mm system off. If you are using a strict mm system. If not, then you need to do what you need to do. Like I said, I have my own reasons to why I do it, that I know are different from yours and many others, but one which I dont have a problem doing and is not hurting me. My suggestion to you is to do the same. Remember, if its working for you no matter what the reasons are, then continue doing what works. If it isnt, for whatever reason, then dont or readjust it. This is the best I can say about it. GL and Aloha CC.
