As was the case with the chips hoops team last season so is the case with the foots team. NO RESPECT! The fact is they don't deserve any. This is Mike Debords 4th year at the helm in Mt.Pleasant and the 1st 3 have been very forgetable.. 9-25 over that span for this proud university... Debord made advancements last season however and I feel this former WOLVERINE asst. coach is ready to unleash the surprise story of the MAC this season.. LETS TAKE A LOOK AT THE CHIPS!!

The passing game is were this team MUST get better. They have talented wideouts in Massam and Harper. And Terrance Jackson returns at RB after a broken foot cost him dearly last season. In 2001 he ran for over a 1,150 yards and looked like the MAC back of the future.. The question with CMU is at QB; Vickers returns at QB but inconsistency has always been his problem. the Chips have talented QB's behind him in Arnoldick, Smith, and Perry. If Vickers struggles look for one of these 3 to become the MAC NEW-COMER of the YEAR!

The Defense was young last season and they showed it. They were the worst passing defense in the confernce. They'll need a better rush to take some pressure off of the Talented d-backfield. Believe me Debord has addressed this issue!

What CMU needs is CONSISTENCY and Mike Debord will lead them to this in 2003'. This team will make noise, as the hoops team did, and finsh in the TOP tier of the WEST for the first time in a LONG while...

projected CMU record by Kodiak 7-5 / 8-4...

projected schedule keys: MICHIGAN / BGU / NIU / CFU / at WMU...

PROJECTED KODIAK MAC WEST FINISH:
1) NIU
2) Bowling Green
3) CMU
4) Toledo
5) WMU
6) Ball St.
7. EMU

more on WMU / EMU later...

Kodiak: I will post some thoughts on the MAC this week. I try to follow it pretty closely. I did read that Akron had their whole offense back. Could be some good plays there if getting points.

I read that the problem on defense is the 2ndary where one of the nation’s worst pass defs has 3 new starters. "New 2ndary coach “Bart” Bartolomeo, has a lot of work to do. Young group w/ little overall talent other than what King and McKnight bring. Development of this group will be the key to CMU’s season!."

I also read best cover corner, Dante McKnight, missed spring ball--any news on whether he is healthy or not?
