i changed my stance on this. originally i would say smart move, dont gamble again, waste of time.

i have changed that to do what you want to do. if gambling is that big of a time consumer in your life, then dont do it.

if you want to do it, minimize the amount of time your spending, get an extra job or a hobby to occupy more time.

Good luck man. Most on here dont realize all the family time that is gone and will never get back while they are banging on the computer keys looking for there next bet. Dont look back and enjoy the Christmas. 21 years is along time.

Never sacrifice family for gambling. Everyone's situation is different but you're probably making a wise decision by quitting.

Had a birthday a few weeks ago...im sure u all saw the 2 page congrats thread...lol
My kids wanted to get me a poker book i didnt have already. A few days after i got it i heard my daughter tell someone she got it because of the Forward....Seems like a good spot to post it....

This book is dedicated to the children of gamblers. They were rarely promised anything , because the promise might have been to hard to keep . They may have wanted to play a game with their parent rather than watch a sporting event their parent had a bet on. They were told everything was done so they could have toys and clothes and a nice place to live, but all they really wanted was a lil more of their parents time. I apoligize to my children (insert names here) for when i have failed as a parent...

Wait, you've been betting for 21 years and you haven't figured out money management?

It's all about the streaks, the good one's and the bad one's!

To All Of You That Can't Imagine Life W/O Gambling

Honestly ask yourself "what other things in life do I enjoy and spend time doing"? I will bet@):)that most of you will answer "nothing".

In other words "get a life"! Not bashing, but other interests DO help. If all you ever think about is the next game & the spread, how to get down, or when can I get away to go to the casino, then yes, chance of sucessfuly quitting are slim.

The Feds are trying to help, by making the deposits increasingly difficult. I know for myself I'm just about at the quitting point also because of that. It's just too much of a pain in the ass, and even @ my advanced yrs, there are better things to do.

To those of you where this IS your life, fine it's your life, and it can be rewarding to a very few. I applaud your decision and wish you luck. If it's reached the "addiction" stage for you, remember there's help available and addictions can and are beaten every day. Been there done that!!:toast:

yep very true PP wise words ..I wonder how many younger bettors with kids will regret the time they missed with there little ones due to "action" and I wonder how many will be in denial they did not pay alot of attention to there little ones ... I would say a very high number sadly

Not really. Depending on your volume, that number is achievable both ways. Those kind of streaks happen more often than you can imagine when you are a high volume bettor.
