Full disclaimer, I've been a Warriors fan since before they drafted Hardaway to complete Run TMC but I still don't think the dubs are getting the credit they deserve.
Kerr has 72 hours to figure out a way to destroy kevin love on defense.
Kerr figured out how to destroy Love long ago. Pretty sure every coach in the NBA knows how to destroy Love. Not every team has the players to carry this out. The Dubs do.
Cleveland has waited a whole year for this.
The Warriors have been waiting too. They haven't forgetten about the Cavs blabbing on about the Dubs being lucky the Cavs weren't healthy.
after game 7:
“We’re pretty excited to go play them again because of everything that was said after we won last year, that they weren’t full strength."
- Joe Lacob
Owner not a player, I know, but I'm sure his thoughts reflect those of the players.
Having said that, I do acknowledge that the Cavs are dangerous and perfectly capable of pulling off the upset if the Dubs get too lax or carried away by their showmanship... but after the WCF (and particularly WCF game 1), they'll be on notice. Fatigue may be a factor too, as someone previously mentioned that the Cavs pretty much have had a bye to this point, but you can also argue that the step up in competition after this "bye" may be too much.
As for the Cavs being healthy now. I felt, at the time, that the Dubs would've had an easier time beating them last Finals if Love and Kyrie would've been healthy. They were a weaker defensive team with those two and the loss of Kyrie in particular threw everything off for a few games. Remember Dellevadova's turn in the spotlight? The Cavs had no choice but to muck it down at that point and the change in pace/style actually hurt the Dubs for a few game.. until they figured it out (and won 3 straight). I do acknowledge that this Cavs team is markedly better overall than last year's Cavs team (and the Cavs team from earlier this season) and they did add Channing Frye specifically for this matchup... but I guess my point is, the Warriors match up well (on both ends of the floor) with a full and healthy Cavs squad.
Anyway, I'll stop blabbing.
May the best team win. I really do hope that the NBA, refs, Nike, whomever got the money and power stay out of it and let the teams battle it out fair and square.
