What can you say this team has balls. They go into Butler home court, and get a win that they needed to advance to the tournament. Sure Butler is going anyways, but this was do or die for Cleveland St. I just a had feeling this team was going to go into Hinkle Fieldhouse and get the road win. After watching this team come into the Carrier Dome in December, and fight tooth and nail with a Syracuse team that was supremely talented, and escape with a victory showed how mentally tough this team was. J'Nathan Bullock is a beast in the paint, while Norris Cole, and Cedrick Jackson get it done from the perimeter. This is a veteran team who plays excellent defense, and just has the mental toughness to go into the NCAA tournament and cause an upset or 2. I found myself sitting there rooting for this team that I have no ties to at all. All I know is this is not a team I would want to see in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament.

Congrats to the Vikes:toast:

I agree...their D was ridiculous and totally changed that Butler game around. Butler had a tough time against them and I see clev st upsetting 1 or 2 teams easily.

Always liked Cleveland State. They have played Butler tough the last 2 games and finally came out ahead in this one

Those chumps couldn't even cover in the 1st round of the Horizon, they won by 3 and I was giving up 4, they got zero defensive rebounds in the final 20 seconds of that game which then would have got them fouled and then get the cover, I probably held it against them the rest of the tournament, I just stopped playing on them or against them, but I agree with yout that they are dangerous, they did show alot of heart in that 1st round game because they were down by double-digits in the 2nd half so they definitely have some heart

Can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm a proud Viking alum tonight! Class of 2000. Think I've seen a few others on here.

What a job Gary Waters has done with this program. You could see how much it meant to him as he was in tears after the final buzzer. CSU did their best to give it away, but Butler just couldn't take advantage. You could kind of tell it wasn't their night as they didn't make some shots which seemed to go down for them every other time these two teams met. But CSU showed a lot of heart and grit this week...they came from behind in their last three conference tourney games (I think they trailed by 8 or more in each of them, too). I passed on playing them in the first two, but did hit them -1 against Wisc GB last Saturday and pounded +6 along with the money line tonight. I'm ecstatic.

Now, what do we hope for? I think a seed somewhere between 11-14 would be best if they want to last a while in the madness. I don't want an 8/9 seed since we'd then meet a No. 1 seed in the next round. Ditto for a 10 seed since (assuming the Vikes won their opener) we'd see a No. 2 right away in the next round.

Props to Gary Waters for doing what he's done at CSU. People here at Rutgers took him for granted and were very impatient with his recruiting. He was a year or two away from doing some good stuff here. He at least made us significant.

first off congrats on your school advancing. that always makes the tournament that much more interesting for you.
i think you will be lucky and will get a #11 or #12 seed. they do have some good wins, and a decent schedule so i don't see them being any lower than #12.

as for waters i always liked him as a coach when he was in the big east. it was always tough going down to the rac and facing his rutgers team at home. Carmello's orange team sure knows how hard it is. waters def had their number at home, along with plenty of other big east teams. i also think they should have given him another year or 2

Gary was a very good coach at Kent before Rutgers.

Went to the "big dance" twice at Kent.

Crazy that with 4:55 left in the game.

CSU had 56, and the final score they have 57, and won.

Nice win for the Vikes

wow at 6:51 they had 54....

3 points in nearly 7 mins

As someone who has lived in Cleveland, I am very happy for the people back their. I know the Cavs are doing well, but it is nice to give the town something positive, most news out of Cleveland is negative these days.

I don't know if they can pull another Mouse McFadden and come close to getting to the elite 8, but nobody thought they would either.
