I might be wrong, but I am convinced he is headed to Boston
Houston is 5 back of St Louis, Houston probably wont even make the playoffs with Roger. They certainly wont catch St Louis over 162 games. Roger isnt coming back to fight for a wild card with a team with a lousy closer and no offense.
The other possibility that makes sense, he goes to Houston and they agree trade him to a contender at the all star break if the Astros are struggling, allowing his home town Astros to get some nice prospects.
In addition to reasons he has to go to Boston, I would think he would like Papelbon and his 0.40 ERA as his closer to nail down wins.
Clemens is an attention whore, going back to Boston will make a splash. Going back to Houston is pointless and boring.
Plus a playoff rotation of
Beckett
Schilling
Clemens
Wakefield
and Papelbon as closer, with the good offense there, equals a nice shot at a ring
