From Laura Ingraham

"Make no mistake: Barack Obama's speech in Berlin's Tiergarten park was one of the most revealing and, frankly, terrifying moments of the campaign so far. We witnessed a man who may very well be the next president of the United States APOLOGIZE to a bunch of foreigners for his own country's failings! He told the crowd of 200,000 that he addressed them "as a fellow citizen of the world" and then dropped this bomb: "I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions."

Apparently lost on Obama and the crowd was the incredible irony that a Nazi flag would be flying over Berlin at this very moment if it weren't for the sacrifices made by the United States and our allies in WWII; hundreds of thousands of Americans died to liberate Europe and prevent the spread of tyranny around the world.

The crowd, of course, was enthralled with the speech. But there's a very simple reason why Obama's been received like a rock star everywhere he goes in Europe: the European people have no desire to see America remain the world's number one power!

Here's the bottom line: The United States can't afford a commander-in-chief who travels to other countries with his hat in his hand and begs for some understanding. We need a president who will stand up for America, not apologize on her behalf. And if Obama had no qualms about delivering this speech to the European public, what's to stop him from doing it in private with Ahmadinejad in Iran?

Say goodbye to America, the superpower; say hello to America, the good global citizen."

- They are fellow citizens of the world. What should he call them, "damn foreigners"?
- The US has not perfected itself (obviously).
- Yes, we have at times struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality.
- Of course we've mad mistakes
- At times our actions have not lived up to best intentions.

I can't see any problem with this. Nothing wrong with displaying a little humility. And what's wrong with being a good global citizen? Seems like good and smart business to me.

Feel free not to actually address any of our points (though I don't agree that the U.S. is not #1).

I don't want a "citizen of the world" as President - I want a US Citizen - to be honest, I don't give a flying fuck what any wetern europeans think.

- The US has not perfected itself (obviously).

As long as there is human involvement, there will not be perfect anyplace in the world - Utopia is a dream that can NEVER come true - the US, by it's longevity has proven to be the most lasting and best there has ever been.

- Yes, we have at times struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality.

No argument from me - but so hasn't everyone else - and they've done much much worse than the US

- Of course we've mad mistakes

No argument from me - but so hasn't everyone else made miostakes - and their mistakes have been much much worse than the US mistakes.

- At times our actions have not lived up to best intentions.

I disagree - our actions have been right in line with our intentions - fukk with me and you die.

I can't see any problem with this. Nothing wrong with displaying a little humility.

There's a difference between being humble and telling everyone your country sucks.

And what's wrong with being a good global citizen? Seems like good and smart business to me.

There's nothing wrong with being a global citizen - why don't you emigrate to global and apply for citizebnship. As for my President - his job is to take care of the US of A and it's citzens - not the globe - let the Europeans worry about the globe.

I was being sarcastic. "Workers of the world unite" is the last line of the communist manifesto. I find it interesting that modern leaders push so much marxist rhetoric.

d2bets, americans have a superiority complex.

That’s because we are. If it wasn’t for our fathers and grandfathers all Europe would be speaking German and all of Asia, New Zeeland and Australia would be speaking Japanese. Every time the USA takes a hit whether it be economically or militarily the country has sucked it up and came back stronger. Oh ye of little faith.

If thats the case, its because of the complete dumbing down of America to the lowest commmon denominator,of liberal policys.
Public education sucks because of teachers unions.
Welfare and entillment programs have turned inner cities to bastard factories.Uneducated parent(s) breeding like rats creating more uneducated ignorant people who need pictures to run a cash register and lack any kind of a moral compass.Breeding more, taking more, contributaing less.
Abortion when practiced is for birth control.
Any society that is tolerant of this shit deserves to crumble.
Thank god there are still enough real Americans out there that realize this.

Part of taking care of Americans is managing our relations with other countries and our image around the world. If for no other reason than because it's good business. If you are a CEO your charge is take care of your business and your shareholders, but part of that is having good relationships with your customers and your vendors and the public and so forth. It matters what the outside world thinks of you. Now more than ever. We don't live in a vacuum.
