So for the first time, I am decorating for Christmas...

Not really by choice, my girl insists. So i am going Christmas Tree and Decoration shopping today..

Is there any type of tree that I should look for or avoid. I am getting a real one.

Anything else I need to know about the tree or decorations...

Seems like a waste of money, but if it makes her happy, so be it...

Thank You gentlemen.(<)<

Just make sure you get a good and straight one. You get a gay tree and you are screwed. Also make sure they cut the tree for you

and after years of back and forth I go to a specialty tree set up (on side of road that says Wisconsin or North Carolina trees) rather than Lowe's or Home Depot. I always get a 7-9ft Frasier Fir for around $100. Yes, they are more expensive than the big box stores, but I had 2 years in a row where the tree was dead by xmas from Lowes. Shit, if there was a spark near the tree I ran for the fire extinguisher..Nothing worse than a brown tree at xmas

have fun:toast:

i never got to a store like Home Depot or Lowes for a tree. There are a ton of places around me that sell beautiful Xmas trees. I don't care if I have to spend more. Im all about the mom and pop shop seen.

I helped a guy sell trees for about three years to make side cash during the holidays. When you get a tree off the lot, ask if the attendant can he give your a fresh cut on the bottom of about say 2 inches that allows for uptake of fresh water when you get your tree home. Most lots in my area price by height not girth of tree with 8-10 footers going for about $40 and some change most years. North Carolina Frasier Firs are some of the most beautiful trees I have ever seen. Go ahead and spend the $40 and some change for an 8-10 tree. You will be satisifed and your family will thank you. Some times can luck up and get 10 -12 trees and can bargain the attendant down, but they will usuually be $55 or better, but they do make Mac Daddy Christmas Trees.
