Boston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale struck out? Toronto's? Kevin Pillar in the second inning Tuesday night to reach 1,500 career strikeouts faster than any pitcher in major league history.

Sale's milestone, a called third strike for his third strikeout of the game, came in 1,290 innings pitched.

Former Chicago Cubs ace Kerry Wood held the previous record, reaching 1,500 in 1,300 innings pitched.

17 and didn’t get the w

Crazy! His career high, and of course BoSox BP blows the 3-2 lead. I told my friend, why not just let Sale pitch and let him get a complete game and most importantly go for that Ls all time record?!?

108 pitches after 7 dude. His career high is 125 set with the White Sox in 2016. So let's run him out there, throw another 30+ pitchers to finish the game? Come on.

Sox bullpen blowing wins for Sale is nothing new. Kimbrel must own at least 5 blown saves in Sales' starts all by himself.

Cora is not the problem here.

I was there....Lot of boo's when he didn't come out in the 8th.

Ridiculous really that someone being paid 30 million a year has to worry about 108 pitches.
And I know it's not him, it's Cora who made that blunder. Cost them a game.

Y'all think 2 innings in May is going to make a difference in Sept/Oct??
Come on now....Rest him another time, pull him early in another game. But no, pick a 1 run game where he can break the strikeout record.

It's not about "saving the arm" for OCT/NOV...........it's about getting the WIN for your team!! Just look what happened immediately after they took him out. The result.

Managers are awfully quick to pull starters even if the bullpen isn't the greatest

For example today in the first game of a double header... JA Happ is sailing along with 64 pitches in 5.33333 innings and gets the hook for no reason, you might want to let him get a few more outs Boone, especially since you have another game to play today. Thursday is an off day, but still let the veteran hurler throw more than 64 pitches.

Boone would have looked bad if they lost that one !

Breaking these kind of things is about impossible currently, even a complete game is a rarity, you could have a no hitter through 8 with 113 pitches and not get to pitch the ninth
