What is the deal with tthis town? So fucking windy, it is crazy! I think I just do not like the town in general, hardly anyone speaks english (doesnt really bother that much, but still), it is dirty as hell, hot, humid, this hotel is a hell hole that stinks. Add all this to the fact that I have not had a drop of alchohol for a staggering 5 days and I am going crazy!!

Next week it is Mcallem, hopefully for the better!

After you visit McAllen, Corpus Christi will seem like one of the nicest cities you've ever been to.

Learn a few Spanish phrases before you go. McAllen is an American town in name only. You go down there, you're basically in Mexico.

I spent an afternoon in McAllen airport a few years ago (Houston was closed due to storms)

I laughed when we walked in there was none of this Gate A17, C31 crap, they had two gates 1 and 2 (maybe it was A and B), but I was amused that we landed our 737 (or similar) at a 2 gate airport.

McAllen has really changed in the last year as far as growth and change. It's still too close to the border, but it is really a clean town now. Lot's of new building going on. Noticed in a travel magazine last week was one of the fastest growing town's in America. Boy, it can get hot in the Summer. Was there yesterday and it was 106 in the shade.Love the new P.F. Chang's restuarant there. Ton's of new restuarants all around.

corpus sucks. and the odor in some parts of it is horrific. conversely, austin, san antonio, dallas and parts of houston pretty fun. stay the hell away from el paso.
