Flameouts D-men are in bad physical shape.
Regehr is most likely out.
If Phaneuf plays, he's still hurtin'
Hawks have some speedy young talented forwards that will make life rough for rookie defense.
Calgary limped into the playoffs...blew 1st place.

Working on Game 2 tix. Haven't been to a playoff game in years.

Two weeks ago I would have said Calgary. Chicago going in on a roll now. Defense is still a concern, but they have two very good goalies.

Calgary are going to get murdered. Four or five games maximum. Regher, our best defenseman and second best player after Iginla, is out. Nobody here in Calgary are giving them any chance to win this series.

Big-gun Bourque is back

If there was any question about Rene Bourque's importance to the Calgary Flames this season, the answer came yesterday.

As the team prepared for Game 1 of their series against the Chicago Blackhawks, Bourque skated with Jarome Iginla and Olli Jokinen on the top line, despite having missed nearly two months with a high-ankle sprain. Bourque is excited to face his old teammates in Chicago. The 27-year-old played three seasons with the Blackhawks, amassing 33 goals over 183 games as part of the youth movement the Original Six franchise went through.

The Flames also called six players up from the minors yesterday, while defenceman Dion Phaneuf returned from his mystery injury that sidelined him for the final two regular-season games.

Phaneuf wouldn't discuss at what percentage he feels, but declared himself fit for Game 1.

Wouldn't be so sure here HawkFans

Chicago first 62 games averaged 3.4 goals per game

In their last 20 they averaged just 2.6

Chicago first 58 games allowed average of just 2.37 per game

In their last 24 they allowed average of 2.9 per game

In short, both ends of their game slid towards center after a sterling first four and a half months.

If Flames can grab this opener (and they're 19-6 when playing with 2+ Days Rest) it could really become a full length series

I don,t like the fact that Calgary brought up 6 minor leauge players this week. This is suggesting that their are many holes to be filled. You don,t see this type of transactions from the better teams in the NHL.

Calgary defensive corp is hurting . It uncertain if Regehr, Warriner and Sarich will play at all. If they do, how good are they gonna be , missing time.

Chi power play scoring @ 19%. Calg power play @ 17%.

Calg power play is 0-43 last ten games.

Cal penalty kill was slight better 83 % compare to 80 % for the Hawks.

The Hawks had better defensive club during the year and a slightly better offence.

Hawks also have better players with plus-minus numbers much better.
Nick Khabibullin is lifetime 25-5-2 against the Flames.

Yes , Calgary may have more experience but the Hawks are young and hungry. I like the Hawks to take out the Flames.

Calgarys power play sucks as of late. Hawks can get real agressive. Hawks in 6.

I think the Blackhawks have the best jerseys and are playing great at the perfect time. The Flames are really hurting with financial probs and playing pretty bad going into the series but they are getting a couple players back so I see a run n gun series..Blackhawks in 6..

Regehr is two weeks into a four week layoff. Sutter said today that Regehr WILL NOT play in the first round of the playoffs, no matter how long it goes on. Bad bad news for the Flames. The Hawks are around -147 and I'd bet them if they were -350.

Laughable. Not saying the Flames are going to win, but you would have to be brain dead not to take them at +300ish.

As much of a Canucks homer that I am, if they were -350, I would not hesitate to take the Blues.

Chicago up 2-1 in the series. What is everyones opinions now? Who wins the series?

I took Chicago -155 to win series before it started and put a little on Calgary +400 to win series after game 2.

I am no hockey expert and I enjoy reading all of your opinions.

THANKS! :toast:

I think you have played this right. I would stick with what you got, and get that guaranteed profit, cause this series could go either way. Would lean Calgary again in Game 4, but can they get a win on the road is the big question.
