I will give Prodigy this: In the playoffs, good hitting beats good pitching. The Pads had Peavy and Young last yr and were solid favs to beat St Louis, and we saw what happened. Jeff freaking Weaver stimied their bats. The Cubs, when healthy, can Mash. And the Dodgers will be tougher for the Pads to beat for the division than Milw will for Chi (especially with LA winning 11 straight games at San Fran)

Good hitting beats good pitching? Are you being serious?... You are looking at that one series then...

In the playoffs the best pitching usually wins.

their 1-2-3 starters (zambrano, lilly, hill) are as good as anyone in the NL.
Totatlly disagree with this. Lilly is just teasing people, he's a career .500 pitcher and he's awful once the calendar hits August. Rich Hill hasn't been pitching well the past month, and while I think he is a nice young pitcher, he's not yet a guy I want trying to win meaningful games, at least not as a #2 or #3. Zambrano is streaky.

I trust the top three from the Dodgers, Braves, and Padres much more, and even without Pedro the Mets have a better staff. The Mets and Dodgers have better lineups and bullpens than the Cubs too, so I have a hard time seeing the Cubs beating either one in a series. 15-1 just isn't enough IMO.

Assuming the pitching is somewhat even, good hitting will win.

You can't possibly believe this can you?

Chris Young is not proven and you worry about him but Ted Lily and Rich Hill are overpowering and can trust them in the playoffs. That makes no sense... I trust Peavy and David Wells and Chris Young more then anyone past Zambrano in the rotation of the Cubs.

Give Lilly some respect hes throwing great this season

Lilly is in the national league now for basically the 1st time in his career (mon his rookie season). It is unbelievable how much going to the national league can effect your numbers, and make you that much better. I think Lilly is taking advantage of this, and by no means is it a fluke.

i can think of 3-4 teams with better starting picthers and more than that with better releivers.Cubs are still weak in my eyes.Sd,Sf,Mets and maybe even the Dodgers have better starting pitching.Dodgers 1-2 definitely better than Cubs 1-2.i don't blame you for taking a 15-1 flyer but to say they have the best 1-2-3 in the NL is a stretch.

seems a lot of guys misinterpreted my point about the cubs 1/2/3 pitchers. by no means are they the best in the NL. but i am confident that they can match up with anyone in the league and stand a very good shot in a short series. a team like frisco will be sitting home this postseason because their starters are solid but their offense is putrid and gives them no support. chicago has a good blend of pitching to go along with their offense.

It's a definite possibility...in my opinion, the NL goes like this:

1. Dodgers
2. Mets
3. Padres
4. Brewers/Braves/Cubs all about a dead heat

And adjusted standings reflect that, more or less.

phils lost on national tav last night, but won thats eries...i dont see how u cant include them in this discussion, and why theya rent in your "dead heat" in 4th ranked teams.

Personally, i think the padres are/ will finish worst than most those teams.

theya re not a complete team

Just don't think the Phils have it...no pitching whatsoever.

Prodigy, Nice call on this one. Bought some at Matchbook shortly after this post for +720, added some more along the way. May hedge a little of it. Your +1500 definitely looks nice right about now. GL. :103631605
