If you pay any attention at all to the conservative message and messengers he was very well known. I guarantee that ALL the guys who post here who consider themselves conservatives not only heard about him but had seen him quoted dozens of times. WE were all well aware of his organization, Turning Point USA, and his "mission" and the way he went about it - challenging anyone at colleges around the country who would allow him on campus (a very important separate discussion) to discuss all the issues of the day. He would make seating in the front of his forums for those who wanted to ask him questions about his world views, religious views, and conservative views for people who would ask the questions - most often with opposing views.
He also often appeared on national media. Hell he was one of the speakers at the Republican National Convention.
Yes. We certainly knew who he was.
