When asked about recent incidents regarding players "interacting" with fans, Charles Barkley said "I believe with all my heart that a player should be allowed once per game to go into the stands and beat up a spectator." He may have been joking but his point was that spectators could put out a player's eye when things are thrown at them.

i agree with charles. i know that athletes are supposed to maintain their composure, but sometimes fans really take it too far. maybe just a swift kick to the nuts would do.

i agree with charles also. . just no little girls, thats all chuck. but adults are fair game. then on the ticket to the game their should be a disclaimer "you could get your ass whipped by a player or an usher if you act like a *******" this would do wonders for the ratings too.

i'm on the third row of the vols home games and barkley was watching the vols/auburn game from the sidelines 15 yards in front of me. When he was walking over there at the beginning of the game, he was being heckled a little and I thought he looked scared. There was no way he was going to make eye contact or go into the stands wearing a bo jackson auburn jersey.

sidenote - vols fans aren't too fond of Bo Jackson either b/c he got scared and took himself out of the vols game in 85. (vols won). It took him about 15 years to earn my respect as one of the best athletes ever. Also, I like Barkley even though he is somewhat of a racist in my opinion. He tells it like it is

That would be a very bad policy IMO. Elder, children, and handicap people would get caught up in these type of things. This world is amazing and not in a great way. What about player discipline, bearing, and leadership. All that needs done is for a player to point out the problem to security and if it continues that person is removed from the game. Let's not be savages please.

How about an "invitation" from the player to the fan to step into the court and have a one on one action. That would not involve others. I can just imagine Shaq asking a 5.6", 150 lb, 20 year old into the court for a little ass kicking :toothless .
Would that increase the value of the ticket? a 2X1, basketball/boxing match...

Who was it that hit a fan that stepped in front of him? It was at a basketball game.

If a fan steps out into the field of play he/she deserves to get thrashed by every member on the field/court by both teams.

During the interview, Chuck said he liked Edwards because Edwards was for the little man. I don't believe he went so far as to say he would vot for Kerry though.

The interviewer (Bruce Cooper, Phoenix's Channel 12 sports) mentioned that Chuck is still serious about running for governor of Alabama. Will he run as a Republican?

Tommy, when did Chuck say he was a Republican? If he rain in Alabama, of course he'd have to call himself a Republican, well, if he wanted to have any chance of winning.

I Cannot Remember When He Said It Most Recently (ie, Today, Yesterday, Etc.) If That Is What You Are Getting At.
