The Copa Sudamericana Title will be awarded to Chapecoense following this week's tragic plane crash.

A flight, carrying members of the first team and a number of journalists, came down in Cerro Gordo, La Union on Monday, with only six survivors.

Chapecoense were a Fairy-Tale story, a team without very much money from a small town that trained hard and played even harder to improve every year since 2008, finally reaching the first division in 2014 and just managing to stay there was a considerable feat.

Beating teams such as Argentina’s Independiente and San Lorenzo on the way to the Copa Sudamericana Final were major upsets.

Chapecoense had been due to play Atletico Nacional in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final in Colombia on Wednesday.

Despite the game being cancelled thousands of people gathered to pay tribute to and mourn the loss of the soccer club.

Chapecoense's Interim Manager Tozzo, who is involved in what will become the effort to rebuild the team, told TV Globo at Arena Conda on Saturday: "CONMEBOL have testified that they will crown Chapecoense as champions of the Copa Sudamericana.

"In addition, the club will receive the two million dollar prize. Everything is confirmed.

"I do not know if there will be a ceremony to receive the cup."

As torrential rain hit the town of Chapeco, coffins - covered in Chapecoense's green and white colours - were walked through the stadium, along with respective photographs and shirts of those who lost their lives.

Brazillian legend, Ronaldinho Gaucho and former Argentine captain, Juan Roman Riquelme have both reportedly offered to play for Chapecoense without pay.

Three of Brazil leading clubs, Sao Paulo, Palmeiras, and Flamengo, have offered to loan some of their players to Chapecoense to ensure they continued competitiveness in the footballing world. Sao Paulo have also added that Chapecoense should be exempted from relegation for the next three seasons to help facilitate the rebuild of the club.

Very sad.

Chelsea's Brazilian players David Luiz and Willian paid tribute to Chapecoense during their match versus Manchester City today.

Incredibly tragic incident. Never saw them play but knew they had a former Atletico Madrid player. This team moved from division 3 to division 1 within a 3 year time span? That's certainly on the come up. Crazy

They were the equivalent of Leicester City (5000-1 winners of The Premier League) for Brazil.

At the time of the crash, they were on their way to the biggest game in the club's history.

The Atletico Madrid player you referenced was Chapeco's most recognizable player Cleber Santana, once of Atletico Madrid and Real Mallorca.

Obrigado por tudo e descanse em paz, Cleber Santana. :'( pic.twitter.com/YlHIZ3Y7Ld

So many desperately sad stories within this tragedy.

As Sun Dodger mentioned above, Brazilian soccer players and also people across the world have responded to this tragedy by behaving as human beings do, at their essence. Revealing who and how we really are, beneath all of the warring over Race, money, status, Religions, land and power....in the face of Tragedy, We Unite.

This says alot.

An important revelation as it speaks to, reveals like a "poker tell", the truth of what we really are.

And that, at our Essence, is not the warring creatures we behave like, most normally.

Certain stuff happens and we as a group, a species get a brief glance at a place of "WTF are we fighting all the time for?"

"Is this who we really are?" and

"maybe there is more....maybe we should be doing things differently."

Does this matter?

The fact that Civility & Unity take over

and humans unite, in the face of Tragedy.

Does this matter? What this "says", about what may lie at the essence, of us?

Yeah......I don't know.

Feels like it should.

Matter.

PSG striker Edinson Cavani booked with Yellow Card for paying tribute to the 71 Chapecoense plane crash victims

FoxSports Brasil, when the match was scheduled to air across all of Brazil ran this, instead:

for the entire 90 minutes

During halftime of the telecast, Fox Sports Brasil paid tribute to the six FoxBrasil employees who died in the crash with a video package produced for each person. A tweet from the network read “Today, the FOX Sports music won’t play. Our tribute to the victims of the crash. We sympathize with the families of these professionals.”
