Odd to hear Dante, I'd estimate for me over 75% of the time mine will be changed if asked right away. Unless the line has moved or the player has a history of doing this kind of stuff then the books will usually accomodate you.

this was a few years ago since I last wanted to change one Pat so maybe things have changed....thanks for the insite all

Also besides those things mentioned if you call right before crunch time they are unlikely to help you. They aren't likely to be too helpful if you call at 1259PM wanting to cancel a couple of $35 wagers on the Jets, LOL.
