After talking with some folks, reading opposing views and some serious soul searching I think it's time to take a stand against scammers.

All the past cases can be grandfathered in.

I for one have never even thought of opening an account in someone else's name. It's just too difficult to imagine what kind of person would even go that direction. The act itself is totally dishonest and obviously devious.

From this day forward I will not support any player publicly, professionally or otherwise that is not honest enough to use their own identity.

Since you are a fair-minded person I'm sure you will do the same with Books?

Like: From this day forward I will not support any Book publicly, professionally or otherwise that is not honest enough to use their own identity (of the principals).

Let's start with Rio/Skybook...

What's the real name of her principals?

I agree frank. If you have been following the action next door you already know that.

But players never come to the forum with a dispute that involves an owners name. So its a bit of a horse of a different color. But if they do I will support them.

Frank,
Let's be fair here - Lance Costa is well know as a stiff bookie. He cheated & was exposed.

Many of these bookies are American's & fear the same fate of Mr. Cohen, so I for one respect their privacy (unless they are proven scammers).

Awwwwww c'mon Buzzy, opening an account in someone else's name is a scam???

What if the guys wife or job strictly forbid gambling ? He's supposed risk his job or marriage so the book will have his legal name ?

I guess opening an offshore book in a phony name or using an alias is o.k. though.

Furthermore, once a sports bettor is banned or has his limits lowered in Nevada, they send someone else in to make the bets for them.

There are some very valid reasons for anonymity by bettors as well as BM's. Your "new stance" is a bit short-sighted IMO.

Cohen was a man among kids. Plus he had no former "criminal background".
The government would have cut him a deal--without prison--but he stood his ground!!!

His case can't be compared to others.

Just don't forget Card, between 60 and 300 posters do this in these forums. Who the hell wants to have big checks come in your name and exchanging money back and forth like this.. It's reality boys. The whole world does it, and no one will admit to it. As long as you give major action to a book and earn your money, that's all that counts.

So many books knew my name was Claude and betting under my buddy's name, and when I would be down over 60 dimes to them, you think they complained. They'd even call me Claude all the time. If books don't pay you bec your name doesn't match, then they are thieves, and it's just an excuse not to pay you.

I've always used my real name.

If I was wagering large amounts and planned to collect 100K I don't think it would be a good idea these days to collect it in your real name.

If you call a book and say I'm Joe Blow and I want to send you 20 dimes, by the way I like my privacy and Joe Blow is not my real name is that OK? Would any book turn this down?

Surely this happens.
