You could take a gorilla out of a zoo and he would do better than that GM.

We should have been Pro basketball Players.

Dudes are getting paid crazy.

What they worked for all their lives, since they first grasped what basketball was.

When they were, like, 5 years old or whatever.

Fackin Payday ya'll :):)

As Seen on TV (ESPN): Teams have to spend $85,000,000 (85 Million), thats the "Bottom Cap", the minimum every team MUST spend.

If a team cannot manage to spend $85 Million on Players then the amount below $85,000,000 gets divided between players on that team's roster.

TV Revenue Payments are what was said to have been a chief driver of what we are seeing take place.

"TV Revenue"....

Television.

What would the NBA need to do to keep TV most happy?

Deliver the best product. The most enthralling product, to give them their $$$$$$$$$worth.

Question #1: How is it possible that this does not equate directly to a Rise in ATS Dogs in TV Games cashing tickets?

"Parity". As many teams "in it" whether that be just in Games (competitive games) or as many teams in a run for the Postseason as possible would seem to be MAX +EV for the NBA...where making TV's investment worthwhile would be concerned.

Question #2: Is there a definition for TV Game anymore...with NBA Network, ESPN games, local broadcasts...whatever else...streams...

are all NBA Games "TV Games" now?

All of these NBA scrubs being signed to 15-30 million per year deals right now is the biggest joke we've ever seen in the history of sports contracts...

That's just the way the market is. The cap jumped 34% and the salary cap floor should be about 85 million. They have a limited number of free agents out there, and you have to spend the money somewhere. The other factor that rewards mediocre players is the "max contract". Lebron, Durant, etc. are worth substantially more than 30 million.

Strongly disagree on several of those.

With that in mind, everyone thinks every contract signed so far is outrageous. That's just the market now. The franchises are making more money than they can spend despite overpaying these guys.

Also, Memphis is not a destination spot. They're going to have to overpay anyone when in competition with most other franchises. Just the reality.

Back to Parsons, I really don't consider it that bad of a signing. I like it.

Did they overpay? Of course.

Did they have to? Absolutely.

But once Durant signs somewhere and other dominoes start to fall elsewhere, Parsons would have ended up being very sought out afterwards. Just the reality of the league and the style of basketball played now.

Since Griz had no chance at signing a Durant type free agent, they quickly signed up a player that was beneath those higher profile agents because had they waited, Parsons would've likely signed with Clippers/Heat/whoever over Memphis.

Am I out of line to say Parsons is a bench player?

Come on. I'm not the biggest fan of Barkley, but he's gotta be rolling in his chair (and I do mean 'roll') over this Mark Eaton with a jumper getting funded with 1/10th of a billion dollars.

Total Need to get a crew together to travel to Majorca and strongarm Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, Shaq & Ernie to do a 2-Hour Inside The NBA Special NOW. I'd pay money to hear Mr. Barkley's "take" on this insanity. They could do the show from their fishing boat, wouldn't even have to come in.

This is needed.

Not sure I would rank Thomas ahead of Conley. And Teague looks like he is going to lose his starting job. But this argument proves the point of how over paid he is by comparing to those players.
