I'm really excited about some of the lines I'm seeing on the board.

Chelsea pk and -0.5 +110 over CSKA Moscow
Chelsea has played inspired since their loss at Man City a few weeks ago. Chelsea needs one more point to guarantee a pass to the next round in the CL so they will be looking for a win here and can deliver it.

Inter Milan -0.5 +105 over Valencia (3*)
Are you kidding me??? Milan is at home against Valencia and you can get plus money for a -0.5 handicap! Milan has scored 10 goals in 3 matches including a 5-1 victory against this Valencia team at Valencia. Biggest bet of the year for me.

Dynamo Kiev pk +0.5 -116 over Real Madrid
Kiev ought to win this one being at home. At the least they will have a draw. Real has not been playing well on the road.

Liverpool/Deportivo under 2 and 2.5 -125
Deportivo has not scored in 3 matches in CL play and Liverpool's major striker Cisse is out of action with a broken leg.

Lyon -1 and -1.5 -101 over Fenerbache
Lyon beat Fenerbache 3-1 on the road in the last meeting between these 2. Lyon will be looking to distance themselves from Man Utd. in the Group D table.

Here are a couple I'll be watching but not betting:

Bayer Leverkusen +0.5 -125 over Roma
Roma has not won in CL play. They did do well last week with a 5-1 win over newcomers Cagliari in the Italian league. I'm looking for a letdown against Leverkusen.

PSG +0.5 +102 over Porto
PSG has improved recently. They beat Porto 2-0 in Porto the last time these 2 met.

Valencia 1-5 Inter Milan: FT Report
PA
VALENCIA, Spain, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Inter Milan continued their perfect start to the Champions League campaign as they blitzed their way to an unstoppable 5-1 win over Valencia in a Group G match on Wednesday.

Quick-fire goals from midfielder Dejan Stankovic and striker Christian Vieri broke the deadlock in the space of just two minutes at the start of the second half in what had been a delicately balanced match at the Mestalla.

Valencia pulled one back when Pablo Aimar cracked home midway through the half but there was no let up from the Serie A side who restored their two-goal lead three minutes later when substitute Andy van der Meyde scored with his first touch.

Brazilian striker Adriano capped a brilliant individual performance with a thundering close-range finish nine minutes from time and there was still time for his replacement Julio Cruz to complete the rout in injury time.

'It was a really heavy blow,' said Valencia captain David Albelda. 'It has been a week to forget but we have no choice but to try and bounce back from this defeat.'

Inter lead Group G with a maximum nine points, three ahead of Werder Bremen, who beat bottom side Anderlecht 2-1, and six in front of Valencia.

The Spanish champions made an aggressive start as they hounded the Inter midfield and mounted several sharp attacking moves in the opening quarter.

Former Juventus striker Marco Di Vaio had a goal-bound shot tipped wide by the outstretched Alberto Fontana in the 15th minute and midfielder Francisco Rufete hit the post with a tricky inswinging corner soon after.

But the early scares sparked the Italians into action and with Adriano leading the way they put Valencia under intense pressure for the remainder of the half.

SHARP ONE-TWO

Midfielders Emre Belozoglu and Dejan Stankovic prised open the Valencia defence with a sharp one-two to put Adriano in the clear on the half hour, but the powerful Brazilian sliced his shot wide of the post with the goal at his mercy.

Four minutes later he burst into the area leaving three defenders in his flailing wake before laying off a neat pass to Emre, but the Turkish midfielder miscued his shot.

Fellow striker Vieri, who spent most of the first half frustrated by the offside trap, gave the home side a final fright just before the break when he hooked a volley over the bar.

But despite the warnings, Valencia, who were missing first choice centre backs Carlos Marchena and Roberto Ayala, were caught off guard by Inter's blistering start to the second half.

Serbia & Montenegro international Stankovic began the blitz when he directed a perfect glancing header into the top corner after a fine cross from defender Giuseppe Favalli two minutes after the break.

Valencia were still reeling from the blow when Vieri hit them with a second, cracking a volley past Santiago Canizares after Adriano had wafted in a great cross from the right.

Although Aimar managed to get a goal back when he netted from eight metres, Inter restored their advantage immediately when Van der Meyde cut in past Amedeo Carboni and drilled home less than a minute after stepping on to the pitch.

There was no respite for Valencia, though, and Adriano pounced to slam home a Javier Zanetti cross in the 81st minute.

He made way for Cruz two minutes later and the Argentine striker blasted in number five after a great assist from Stankovic to complete a humiliating first home defeat in 10 European games for the UEFA Cup holders.

Why are they -0.5 +106 today?
Don't know to be honest. This is one of the lines I was looking at yesterday and thought it offered value. Perhaps they think the first match was a "freak" result.

Sometimes that happens. Perhaps Inter Milan was happy with a tie as well since they seem to be ahead in the group.

Monday results:
Chelsea 1, Moscow 0 (1 win)

Inter Milan 0, Valencia 0 (1 loss)

Net: +0.10

Just thought I would add that if anyone were curious, the PSG +0.5 over Porto was a winner since the match ended in a 0-0 tie. Too bad I didn't bet it.

Adding:

Juventus pk and +0.5 -108 over Bayern Munich
Juventus/Bayern Munich under 2 and 2.5 -120

I read about the Inter Milan/Valencia match to find out that Inter Milan needed only a tie to secure their place in the next round. Translate that to Juventus and they only need a tie to keep a decided advantage over 2nd-place BM.

Juventus is a defensive giant (pardon the pun) in the Italian Serie A league having given up only 2 goals in 9 matches. They have given up none in CL play.

Juventus' coach Capello is quoted as saying "Wednesday's Champions League match against Bayern is not crucial but it is important that we gain points.'' I'm betting that Juventus will be willing to settle for a tie here and their defense will be nearly stellar as usual.

I'm promoting the Bayer Leverkusen/Roma pick to a viable bet.

Bayer Leverkusen +0.5 -125 over Roma
The German team is tied for first in Group B with 6 points so they will look to this match as a chance to do well. This is not a true home advantage for Roma here as the stadium will be empty. This is due to a penalty for a referee being struck by a projectile in an earlier match against Kiev.

Thanks poopanugget and the_wiz.

I thought Lyon was going to go the way of Inter Milan and Juventus and be happy with a tie. I sure was mad at myself when Fenerbache took a 1-0 lead. But then I thought it might make Lyon mad enough to win big.

Wednesday results:
Dynamo Kiev 2, Real Madrid 2 (1/2 win, 1/2 draw)
Liverpool 1, Deportivo 0 (1 win)
Lyon 4, Fenerbache 2 (1 win)
Juventus 1, Bayern Munich 0 (2 wins)
Leverkusen 1, Roma 1 (1 win)

Total for Wednesday: 5 1/2 wins, 0 losses, 1/2 draw +3.98
Total for the 2 days: 6 1/2 wins, 1 loss, 1/2 draw +4.08

Total series (previous post was in error): 9 winning-4 losing +14.72

Thanks LogansRun.

Your name is one of my favorite movies. Of course, I especially liked Jenny Agutter.

I hear there will be another Logan's Run movie coming out in 2005.
