Apr. 27 - Looking to bolster their linebacker corps, the Patriots are exploring the possibility of signing free-agent linebacker Chad Brown, according to the Boston Globe. The 35-year-old Brown, recently released by the Seahawks, visited with Patriots officials on April 25.

"Outside linebacker is an example of a position where we haven't drafted anybody and really haven't signed anybody, and we need to go to camp with a couple more players than we have there," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazzette is reporting that Brown is expected to meet with the Steelers today. Brown played in Pittsburgh from 1993-96.

He will go to the Pats if he wants to play for Super Bowls. Might go back to the Steelers if he wants to play for AFC Championships.

Dante,

Patriots signed LB Chad Brown to a two-year, $4 million contract that will pay him $1.5 million this season.
The 34-year-old Brown chose the Patriots over the Broncos, Saints, and Steelers. He's a perfect fit for the Pats - tough, smart, versatile, and hungry. A likely starter, Brown would make sense as a Patriot whether Tedy Bruschi returns this season or not.

The Pats now have ex Steelers Chad Scott, Chad Brown, Mike Vrabel, Rodney Bailey, Hank Poteat and Josh Miller.
