Lions/Alouettes OVER 58.5 (-110) -- 2 units: After laying off the Lions for several weeks, I've decided to tempt fate yet again and bet on a Lions game. There are just too many reasons that both teams will move the ball. For the Lions, it all starts with the quarterback. I don't care what the numbers say, if you have watched BC Lions football this year, you know how brutal Jarious Jackson has been. I will give him some credit, he is one of the most consistant QBs in the league... in recent games he consistantly leads scoring drives in the 1st half, only to do absolutely nothing the rest of the way. Last week against Calgary he marches the Lions down the field on their first possession, yet ends the game with only 75 yards passing! Three weeks ago in Edmonton he led the Lions to an impressive half time lead, only to crumble in the second half. This guy has all the tools to be a good QB, but he doesn't have the brain to be a good QB. He is unable to read defences, and makes terrible decisions with the ball. Bring in Buck Pierce (Homer Alert -- look at my avatar!) a guy who has played solid every time he has had a chance. He doesn't have the arm of Jarious, but he puts the ball on target, knows how to spread the ball around, and most importantly he will take what the defence gives him. I am very confident he will be able to move the ball in Montreal. If he can find a way to spread the ball around to his big three (Simon, P. Jackson, Clermont), I can definitely see them coming out of Montreal with a win. Turning to Montreal, you have one of the best offences in the league. What started out as a completely one dimensional attack has become much more balanced as the season has gone on, and Couburne has made believers out of nay sayers. Add this to the fact that Montreal has been dynamite in the air all season long, as Calvillo's shorter drop backs have proven to pay off. The guy may be old, but he is probably the smartest QB in the league. He has already torn up the Lions secondary once this year, on the road. Speaking of the Lions secondary, they will be without corner Dante Marsh, which does not help when you're already getting torched for almost 350 yards per game over your last 4 contests. Although I'm usually weary to bet totals, I think this game goes over the number.
