This is freakin pathetic!!!!! I usually do real well in college football and break even in the pros but this year I have totally sucked in college football!!!!!That all changes Saturday!!!!!

If I lose this game this Saturday I will not play another game this year in college football!!!!!

20* Minnesota -2- -120 The Gophers are at home and they will crush the Hawkeyes. Minn has not lost a game at home this year and it won't start on Saturday as the Hawks are going to get caught looking ahead to Wisconsin and this game could get real ugly in the Metrodome!!!!!

good luck

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but Minny is due for a loss at home and really has not played well recently. They are also 1-11 ATS the last 11 versus Iowa. This could be a good omen or a bad omen. Obviously those numbers are due to turnaround, but also they indicate Minny just does not play well against Iowa. I can't seem to pull the trigger on this game, but I will be rooting for you Lewis. Good Luck.

Good Luck man I like it too but this team did find a way to lose too Indiana so not moving too big on it....Didn't Iowa fans tear down the goalposts here 2 years ago???? Might have been a different game anyone remember????

Thanks for all the responses

In Spades I am looking at the Redskins this week as well

Sportsmonitor I hope things turn around this week but I just can't see Iowa totally focused this week after they beat Purdue and have Wisconsin next week. This looks like a sandwich game.

Tommy I think you are right about the goalposts. If I remember correctly they carried them up into the stands. Minn might have a little extra motivation on their side.

It's probably a NO OMEN. How many of the coaches/players are on today's Iowa-Minnesota team that were on it in 1993?

Bubba-
Stats are part of the game and has nothing to do with 1993. Just historical facts surrounding Iowa and Minn. football games. Just like if someone said Minn. is 1-10 ATS as favs. in last game of season. Someone else could also say the Gophers could be the first Minn. team to go undefeated at home since 1967.

The fact is that some of the players/coaches WERE on the team the past 3 or 4 years and the stats don't lie. Conflicted becuase the stats say Iowa, but when a Big 10 team looks ahead, they seem to always lose. Might be a no-go. Best of luck to you all though!!

I might be looking at this the wrong way but I think that this game sets up perfect for the Gophers. Iowa coming off of an emotional win and having the #4 team in the country up next while you have a Minn team that is undefeated at home and something to prove after their last several games. I think that Minn comes out focused while the Hawkeyes come out a little flat. You also have the angle of an unranked team favored over a ranked team. I don't know how well this angle is working this year but it has been profitable in the past. Also throw in the fact that Iowa is just 2-2 away this year with a very unimpressive win over Penn St and the other win was vs Illinois who does not have a good football team this year. Their 2 losses away which were blowouts were against Arizona St and Michigan. I don't know if Minn is as good as either of these 2 teams but I do know that they are better than Penn St and Illinois. They did play Michigan extremely tough at Ann Arbor so they can play good football. I look for an all out effort in this game as this has some bowl game implications.

GO GOPHERS!!!!!

don't know what to think of this game...Minnesota is good at home...not playing real well...Iowa struggles on the road...but they are hot...and they defend the run well...toss up game here...GL

The difference between Iowa and Minn is that Iowa will occasionally beat one of the big boys in the Big 10. Iowa can beat OSU and Michigan once every few years while Minn can never beat any of the big boys. They whip up on cupcake city and beat the Illinios, etc. (actually, just lost to IU) etc. then they face the Ohio States and Michigans and get beat.

Iowa has an awesome defense and has shut down many opponents in the past few weeks while Minn has recently lost to INDIANA! INDIANA! Let me say that again Indiana! WTF? Minn last weekend got a dose of a real team and a real defense. Iowa's not Wisconsin on offense due to injuries. But their defense is up there and I see a repeat of Minn's performance last weekend on the horizon.

After losses to MSU and IU recently, one might start to wonder if the wheels are coming off of the Minn wagon.....again. They could be getting ready to pack it in for the season. Plus I'll take Kirk over Glen anyday at headcoach.

Best of luck tonight and this weekend! :hump:

I'm a little biased here but don't see any way that Minnesota wins this game. Obviously everyone's figured out how to beat Minny --make them throw! Iowa is 4th in nation in rushing D.

Iowa has the leading passer in the big 10. Minnesota ranks 107 out of 117 teams in pass defense. Iowa will shut down there running game, probably block a couple kicks, and score a few through the air to beat Minnesota. I recommend a ML play or just take the 3 points with the Hawks. Iowa game at ASU was a fluke and should've beat Michigan in Big House again. TOs at the wrong time. Iowa got plenty to play for in this game. Another Jan 1 bowl game in Florida to be exact. Too well coached to be looking forward to Wiskey.

Viking, you're right on. And you make a good point about the coach. The coaching edge wins this game for Iowa. And I'm no Iowa fan.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!

Lets Also Not Forget All Of The 2nd Half Defensive Breakdowns By Minny. The Last 2 Years To Michigan Come To Mind And Of Course They Were Up 14-0 In The 1st And Until Indiana Put A 20 Spot On The Board In The 2nd.

Coaching Plays A Huge Roll...i Hope Minny Gets Out To A 21-0 Lead Just So We Can See Another 2nd Half Collapse.

This Game Way To Tough To Call....good Luck

you guys do realize that 60% of the MEtrodome will be full of Iowa fans right?
Iowa will be the "home" team here.

It is however a system play with MN favored over a ranked Iowa team. SO MN is the play but be careful.

Haven't seen a system go unbeaten yet. I'll go with the better team getting points.

Last night remember that Toledo had beaten NIU almost every time they had played. .. ten in a row I think. They were on the road and getting points. Look what happened. This is almost the exact same situation that Minnesota is in with Iowa. Tate has really been getting comfortable at QB and I just see Iowa getting atleast one TD to Hinkel and then forcing a few turnovers by Minnesota. My money is going to be on the Hawks getting points.. ..Almost a home team in this situation. Good luck though. . .. I am sure you will have more on it then I will. .. So in a way i hope you win!! Just be careful with this one.

Thanks for all of the responses but my play is in and I still think that I am on the right side of this one. If I lose then I guess that I was wrong and that will be my last college pick this year in football.

GL to everyone this weekend

Iowa wins this game straight up. Ferentz's teams get better every game and he is not going to blow this. Good luck.
