CBB Plays for 3/7/14

Hoping to get some momentum heading into the NCAA's...

Afternoon play:

#838 Missouri St pk (-108)

MSU covered both games against the Redbirds this year and Bears sr. forward Jarmar Gulley averaged 23ppg in those games. I have the Bears as slightly better and Illinois St are a bit of poor ATS performers off a SU loss.

Hopefully my systems work in the conference tourneys. We will see.

Darn the line moved against me!

Anyway, looking at these MVC games a few things stood out:

The #1 seed in this tourney is 23-0 SU and 17-5-1 ATS in opening games! Also, Evansville is horrible as a DD dog in this tournament (no ATS wins) and 2-11-1 ATS against #4 seed or higher. I don't bet DD games in basketball but my goodness does that scream Wichita state -17

Northern Iowa has gone 1 and done in this tourney 3 straight years (0-3 SU & ATS)

Well that was a pretty hideous game (for anyone that was able to watch on the ESPN 3 site or on their tv) but I'll take the win.

My #'s say to take UNC Wilmington as Hofstra shouldn't be favored over anyone but I can't wager on such a crappy team, so I will skip that one.

In the MVC I would not be surprised to see Southern Ill cover as they are on a 6-3 ATS run since Feb 1 and 3 of their last 5 games in this spot were decided by 2,3,2 pts. Not strong enough to play, however so I am sitting out tonight.

Leaving my record at 4-0 (+$400)

Will post tomorrow if I have some strong ones.

A few notes on the Horizon tourney:

Valpo is on a bad 2-7 ATS run since Feb 1.

Wright St pretty strong 8-3 ATS run. Oakland may get their doors blown off as the favorite is 11-6 when Oak is on the road.

Not sure about these games though as the dogs aren't being bet much at all in tonight's Horizon tourney...
