Cavs part with Davis in 3 for 3 trade

Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge has been promising for months that he was going to fill the scoring void left when he traded Antoine Walker to Dallas.


Ainge has made his move.


Two league sources told Insider that the Celtics and Cavaliers have agreed to a trade that will send Ricky Davis, Chris Mihm and Michael Stewart to Boston for Eric Williams, Tony Battie and Kedrick Brown.


The trade is expected to be announced later Monday.


Davis is a scoring machine but has bumped heads with new head coach Paul Silas. Silas coached Davis as a rookie in Charlotte and the two didn't get along, and Silas has grown frustrated with Davis' lack of defensive effort this season.


The trade gives the Cavs three solid defenders to surround LeBron James. In addition, Cleveland creates extra cap flexibility next summer when Williams' contract comes off the books.


The Celtics get a player capable of scoring 20 points a game in Davis as well as big man Mihm, who is playing the best basketball of his career.

i think in cavs/pacers case it is the o'neal injury. this trade isnt even officialy announced yet so im guessing these guys suit up for their 'former' teams a last time tonight. it could make things funky though especially in bostons case. those 3 are die hard celtic contributors. you see how much walker was wimpering about not being a celtic. its a great franchise to play for.

the celtics have a darn good middle 3 now. pierce/ davis / baker. hard to believe, but they are only a great PG or great C away from being an elite team.

greek and pinnacle now have t'wolves as favs. celtics also placed lafrentz on injured 12/13. celtics are now 4 guys short from the team that was playing so well last week.

Apparently this trade wasn't gonna be announced until AFTER tonight's games. This would allow the Cavs/Celtics to play with a "normal" roster.

But somebody in Boston leaked the info. So now they can't play Davis, Mihm, Williams, etc.

you must be right funk monkey. the celtics look short handed, tired, and overwhelemd aftera Q of play. they look incredibly hopeless.
