Cavaliers open as heavy favorite over Celtics in Vegas
Ben Fawkes
ESPN Staff Writer

Isaiah Thomas and the Boston Celtics noted on Monday night that they would be underdogs against the Cleveland Cavaliers in their upcoming Eastern Conference finals matchup.

The Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook agrees.

"They didn't give us a chance [against the Wizards]," Thomas said after Boston's Game 7 win over the Washington Wizards. "They didn't give us a chance when we were down 2-0 to Chicago. ... They don't ever give us a chance, and we just keep going; we don't care about what others say."

The Celtics opened up as +425 underdogs to win the series at Westgate, with the Cavaliers as -550 favorites.

By Tuesday morning, Cleveland had been bet up to a -700 favorite, and Boston was +500. A $100 bet on the Cavaliers to win the series would now win $14.29. That same $100 bet on the Celtics would win $500.

The Cavaliers come into the series well rested, as they haven't played a game since May 7.

Boston is also a 40-1 long shot to win this year's NBA title, while Cleveland has 5-2 odds. The series begins Wednesday evening, with the Cavaliers favored by 3.5 points in Boston.
