Cheer up, Cleveland -- the Cavaliers are the clear-cut favorites to win next year's championship.

The Golden State Warriors outlasted the depleted Cavaliers on Tuesday, clinching this year's championship with a 105-97 win in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

But the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook made Cleveland the early 9-4 favorite to win the 2016 NBA title. Golden State and the Oklahoma City Thunder are next at 5-1, followed by the Los Angeles Clippers (10-1), San Antonio Spurs (12-1) and Chicago Bulls (12-1). A lot could change during the offseason, with a plethora of big-name free agents possibly on the move.
Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge, Memphis center Marc Gasol, Miami guard Dwyane Wade, Clippers center DeAndre Jordan and Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard are among the prominent free agents.

The favored Cavaliers also could see significant adjustments. LeBron James is a free agent but not expected to move. Forward Kevin Love has said he plans to be back with Cleveland next season.

The Cavs also look forward to the return of point guard Kyrie Irving, who missed parts of the playoffs before fracturing his kneecap in Game 1 of the Finals.

"Look at what they're doing without Love and Irving," Jeff Sherman, assistant manager and NBA oddsmaker at the SuperBook, told ESPN Chalk. "We've seen with the Heat, where the first year LeBron didn't win. Usually, things improve, chemistry improves. We just expect that they'll be that much better next year and actually have some separation between other teams, assuming that they're healthy."

The Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks both opened at 80-1 but aren't the largest long shots on the board.

That distinction belongs to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic, who are all listed at 200-1.

makes sense, first year together. Now more time for chemistry to build. Plus their starting center goes down, then 2 other starters/all stars go down. Team changed a lot and not just from the beginning of the season but since last year. Going to finals and losing is hardly a bad season.

Besides the 2 favorites, who else is looks tempting on the board? there could be a few big changes in the off season to really help or really diminish a few teams chances.

Nothing really because those are bad casino odds. Another issue is there really isn't going to be any balance of power type moves this offseason. The best FA is Aldridge and if he goes to Dallas I really don't see that making them better than the top West teams. If he went San Antonio it would be nice.

Most of the guys with player options are expected to opt in and become free agents next offseason when the cap is set to skyrocket like 30%.

At least in MLB, NHL, and NFL we can take a semi-longshot & sometimes have a shot of hitting as we see surprises every year.

But in the NBA you have to stick to the top few teams with odds not that appealing, to have any realistic chance...

Spurs 12-1, they are always in it and with a possibility of Aldridge and I'd take the Rockets at 20-1.

Still will take a shot with the Cavs. If everyone is Healthy, I can't see them being stopped.
Plus like Mr. Mark said... another year to work together. Remember how they started out at the beginning of the season. Don't think they start out like that again.

I saw that some agents may have their guys sign thru 2017 in preparation for a lockout in the 16-17 season which would make 2017-2018 a very interesting off season as well.

They rally want Aldridge but are pursuing Gasol and Jordan too - any of them would make them the front runners - especially of they can keep Green

Warriors were 25-1 to win the title before the season....but i guess you have to stick to a few teams

They probably should be the favorites. They almost made it playing a really ugly style offense. Very similar to Lebrons first year in Miami. They looked ugly, and lacked chemistry the first year there too and made the finals. The next two years their offense was much prettier and efficient with much better ball movement. I'd expect similar improvements next year with the Cavs.
