"In a poltically embarassing development for a president being hammered for
ballooning the national debt, the US has now officially reached its legal
borrowing ceiling of $7.384 trilliion Fiscal smoke and mirrors can keep things going for a few weeks. But TS John Snow warns it is imperative that Congress
acts to increse the ceiling by mid-November. In l981, when the national debt first ticked over $1 trillion, President Reagan declared that sum "incomprehensible" and likened it to a stack of $1,000 bills 67 miles high. Today, the pile is closing in on 500 miles.

(wn) about 8 times higher than "incomprehensible" this word was spoken by a hero to many of you)

I will respond. I think its an absolute disgrace what Bush and the Repblican Congress has done with the economy and Govt. spending. That being said Kerry wants to spend $1.3T on health care and raise taxes which would be even worse I think both sides lack ANY clear vision regarding the economy and the role the federal govt. should play in our lives.

I am glad we are in Iraq and I think that the citizens of Iraq are thrilled to be out from under the strong arm of Saddam. I think they are happy that the dictator that put so many in mass graves and jail cells is now in a jail cell himself. We liberated a Muslim Dictatorship and that has to be killing the terrosit now that we have done it in two countries that are Muslims stongholds. I am all for us fighting "insurgents". terroist, and any other Muslim extremist that wants a piece of us.....hell yes I am glad we are in Iraq. I am glad we went into Afghanistan and liberated that country, you being female, staci must be thrilled for the Afghanistan women now voting in their own country!!!. War is never a popular decision or easy putting US Soldiers in harms way...but being a soldier is not always going to be a cakewalk God Bless the Men and Women of our Arm Services for the sacrifices they have made. It is never easy being the the "big" guy on the block and the main world superpower but when attacked on 9/11 and going into the middle east Afghanistan and Iraq were difficult decisions that I am glad we made.

Please remember that we tried UN sanctions for over 12 years that did nothing but allow Saddam to remain in power and broker backroom deals with France and Russia. The UN is ineffective and I don't feel as if we have ANY obligation to ask permission to protect our country or fight the war on terriosim as WE SEE FIT. I think Kerry's view of coalitions and using the UN is BS dipolmacy when we are a WAR ...on this issue I strongly disagree with Kerry. Also I think eventually this will be the issue that Kerrry loses this election. If the Dems wanted the Presidency it was up for that taking ....why did you have to nominate the most liberal member of the Senate?.

Actually I don't think you can call Iraq a "Muslim dictatorship". For one thing Iraq was considered secular under Saddam. And while you can define Saddam as a Muslim it was more a faith of necessity than an ideology. Also there was NO terror threat to the U.S. emanating from Iraq.

Recent revelations indicate to me that this war was nothing more than a test bed for rumsfeld and his neocons. They wanted to prove the theory of a small, light, rapid deployment force could be as effective as overwhelming force. This has proven to be an utter disaster. Believe it or not the original plan was to have, by now, maintenence force of around 20,000 American forces and the rest to be multi nationals. But without the troops to do the difficult work of establishing peace, securing borders and provide security the country has spun out of control. This is a failure at the highest level. How can a president, after pissing off many of our allies, expect cooperation? Why didn't he listen to his military leaders when they told him, you can win the war with a small force but it will take nearly 3 times that many to secure the peace. These mistakes are not on the same level as getting a hummer in the oval office. This is a wanton disregard for the life of those he has sent to fight this conflict. At this point voting this ass out of office isn't nearly enough.

You make sense and present a logical and intelligent
argument. One of the many reasons I have no
respect for his intelligence, compassion or
Christianity, he cares not about the ordinary
American. Those deaths in Iraq, both our brave
soldiers and thousands of innocent Iraqi's mean
nothing to him. His advisors, IMO are mostly
evil men. I have only a little respect for Powell but
I expect him to resign with a Bush win and I think
in the coming years he may even compose a book
about the evil of this administration. Concerning
the much hated Rumsfeld, I think he will also
be replaced.

Mr King

Looks like you are trying to pick a fight. First you didn't like my
opinion about Christianity and G Bush. Since it was opinion only
I decided to defer and gave you the last word. Now, you want
to fight about my opinion concerning this administration. If you
will read properly my good friend you will find the word "think"
before each statement. The one concerning Powell and the
one concerning Rumsfeld. Am I not entitled to my opinion?
Also, if I state something as a fact you can be sure as your
Royal name that I will back it up with facts. You, I believe just
don't like the opinions of others when they differ from yours.
You should grow up and learn to accept opinions. I can very
much understand frustation and rage when those opinions are
likened to fact, however, that is something usually done by
posters that are your friends, not mine. "think" "expect" these
are words that signify possibilities of the writer.

If you are baiting for an intellectual argument you may get
more than you bargain for.

Opinons are fine and I have no problem with them. What you said about Christainity, wasn't the problem, but when you stated, IN NO WAY IS GEORGE BUSH A CHRISTIAN, which I found ignorant if take the literal definition of Christianity, one who believes that Jesus Christ is the Mesiash as prophesied in the Old Testament, I am sure George Bush believes this if he says he does. You can state any opion you want BUT when you make claims and back those claims up with nothing more then, its my opion, don't be offended if people laugh at your unfounded claims. I am not fustrated or in rage rather amused.

Obviously you do have a problem with opinions or
you don't write what you mean. One or the other.
I make no "unfounded" claims. It either is my
opinion and very easy understood as an opinion by an
intelligent reader. Or it is a fact, which I will
always have ammo for. This I have proven in
a number of cases. In reality, it is I who always
asks for the facts from posters like you, and in
return I usually get none. I will refrain from names
because I am in a "Christian" frame of mind, but
a couple posters when asked for their facts
had none, called me names and put their tail
between their legs and went home. No Mr. King
I don't engage in fact twisting, hyperbole, or
outright lying. That distinction rightly belongs
to the posters that I and a few others have
exposed. Their half-truths, playing with words,
quotes from not credible sources, and all other sorts
of nonsense are easily caught by the discerning
reader. This subject, I believe has been exhausted
and is becoming boring so I will again defer the last
post to you.

Tom King--looks like Rumsfeld could resign or quit, now will wait for
Powell to do the same and write his book and I will shove this in
your face again. Just a little common sense and some research
Tom, don't have to work for GW>
