Catching errors and notifying books

Recently, I caught errors with both Pinnacle and Hollywood and notified the books. Both books were nice enough to credit my account for alerting them.
One of the errors could have been very costly, and I have a feeling many on here would have taken advantage of the book and then whined on here when they got caught.
Just wanted to show you that honesty pays.

A big majority of average bettors will bet into the mistakes. The right thing to do is contact the book and notify them IMO.

Green you have said a mouthful here..its totally the right thing sir. I ave done it many times and it pays to do it

i have slightly mixed feelings on this.

Of course it depends on what type mistake you think you are seeing. a wrong start time and being able to bet a game in progress against a normal line (not an interactive) is an error to reprot and get a bonus for! or a half time line that a book forgets to take down 6 minutes into the second half. but a misline??? Im not so sure. Here is why?


Take today for example

at one point Olympic had the Syracuse total at 134 and Cascade had it at 140.

One could consider that some book had an error, a misline, or a slow to adjust line or whatever specualtion you could think of. Or maybe not, maybe the books were gambling themselves, trying to hook you in to the wrong side that they had some info on, who knows?
how can a player know for sure???? A 6 point spread on a major college hoops game is obviously a misline (or is it?????)

I always assume that the linemakers have the point spread that they are willing to offer period... If you dont you miss out on opportunities to get a value line and beat the linesmakers. I did not report anything. Im not sure it was an error, Pinnacle had 135 for some time then 141, is the 141 now an error? Game went over by a zillion points you could argue even the 141 was a misline (should have been 161). Bet the spreads offered and assume the bookies there know what they are doing.

I think we can all distinguish between obvious errors and questionable lines. I call on both, the former to correct the line and the latter to ensure my bet is honoured.

I've called a book to correct an error 4 times. One book (Vwager) rewarded me with money in my account. You shouldn't expect a reward but it's nice when you do get one.

A goof rule of thumb is 15 points off, if its 15 pts off a badline, anything else is ok to bet on. Ohio State- KState last night, halftime line of 0.5 and 6.5 is basically the same, becasue fg is out of the equation, there isnt much diffrence.

I would like to think the word "goof" was a typo but since you think anything within 15 pts is a good line I'll just put it down as a Freudian slip.

There is a big difference between a bad line, and a soft line, and an out and out mistake. Once, I saw the wrong team listed in a game. The other was a game played on one day, listed for the next day. That is an obvious error, in my opinion.

Not only is it the right thing to do. If it is less than a top tier book,they make take a shot at you.

I am new to gambling. Earlier this year, the Dallas Stars were in a slump and my book had them at 50 to 1 to win the cup. They started the season at about 8 to 1. All the other books had them about 15 to 1. They are now back on track and playing well.

I placed a small wager on the bet. Should I have reported it?

Depends who the bet is with. On a stuation like this I would make the max wager then call them.
