Casinos - Montreal or Niagara Falls?

Thinking of driving up to Canada this weekend.:drink: I have heard Montreal has some great party spots but it would be cool to gamble and check out the falls too.

Anyone been to the Casinos in Montreal or Niagara Falls?

Any advice?

You have time to do both.


Play at the Casino till 9-10, go our for dinner then party all night till 4-5 in the morning.

The better your luck at the tables, the more fun you will have at night!

I played Junior in Niagara Falls and I wouldnt go there if you held a gun to my head. The falls are nice but the city is sh#t. Go to Toronto and check out the final series against the yanks..

Montreal is far superior for the city, Niagara for the casinos. What is more important to you? Niagara has to be competitive since there are three casinos close to each other. Casino Montreal is a monopoly run by the province so they have no qualms about fleecing you.

If you go to Montreal, you will have lots of good value hotels to choose from. Other than summer the hotels and restaurants in that city are among the best deals in North America and the nightlife is superb. Niagara can't hold a candle to all that, but the gambling is better.

Thanks everyone. I think it sounds like Montreal is the way to go for this weekend since I am bringing along my girl and won't be spending too much time at the casino. Plus, I think I can make it to Motnreal in ~5 hours and it is 7+ to get to Niagara from Boston...

If wining and dining and nightly activities is your major concerns than Montreal is definietly the place to go. As long as you hang around downtown on the St. Catherine Street area for the night life you can't go wrong. Make sure you visit the Old Montreal area for dining and entertainment also. Mt. Royal is a romantic area to take a leisure stroll and view the city from its look-out point. The Tour de Ville revolving restaurant on top of the Delta hotel is a romantic place to dine. The drive from Boston to Montreal can be done from 4 - 4.5 hours. ENJOY!!arty:

Piranha, very helpful, thanks. I actually had the delta on my short list of places to stay. I am looking at:

Delta Centre Ville
Hotel le Cantlie Suites
Hotel Ruby Foos
Hyatt Regency Montreal
Place D'Armas

Any suggestions?

Ruby Foos is not in the downtown area. That hotel is the furthest one from downtown. If serenity is what you want that'll be your pick.
Delta is the pretty close to downtown and within walking distance to St. Catherine street. The revolving restaurant upstairs is very romantic.
Hyatt Regency is still in the downtown corridor but further from the night life action.
Le Cantlie is right in the heart of downtown. You would not need your car if you stay there. Shopping,dining and night life is within walking distance.
Place D'armes is located in the Old Montreal district. If Old Montreal is where you want to hang you would not need your car there. Dining is superb in Old Montreal. It is the second farthest hotel of the five to the downtown area.

My personal pick would be either Delta or Le Cantlie.
