MGM Resorts announces 2 more Las Vegas properties will close hotels mid-week

According to a statement from the company, hotel towers at both Mandalay Bay and The Mirage will close Monday through Thursday effective Nov. 30. MGM Resorts confirmed that the hotel portions of the properties will open at noon on Thursdays and will be open through the weekend.

While the hotel towers will be closed midweek, the company said that casinos, restaurants and other amenities will remain open at the properties throughout the week.
The announcement to close Mandalay Bay and The Mirage midweek comes following the company's previous decision to close Park MGM midweek.

Moronic governor, who is recovering from Covid, is on TV today to announce new restrictions. Who knows what this idiot will do. They caught him on video dining out without masks in a place where there were singers. Kind of like Newsome in CA as the rules don't apply to the people who tell the rest of us what to do.

Having exhausted its cash reserves, Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise will be laying off 1,110 employees on Friday.

During a Tuesday meeting with members of the Navajo Nation Council, Brian Parrish, interim director for Navajo Gaming, said the gaming board passed a resolution that same morning to lay off over a 1,000 employees. Of these, 773 are Navajo workers and 172 are non-Navajo employees.

Some 165 employees will continue to work, but they will see a 20 percent pay reduction. There have been 97 resignations.

What happened to Vegas RE? You said 70% decline.

Better prognostication in the New Year maybe...

If you can make a thread about it I’d be interested in hearing what it’s like. My sister lives there, but doesn’t leave Summerlin and works from home

not pretty for them, especially as drug abuse and alcoholism is at a high % before the Chyna flu

the casinos may not open for 4 more months

Cam fill you in bro.. Curious what it was like last night. Been to a couple NYE's in Vegas. Quite the vibe if anyone has witnessed it.

Assuming the college basketball season goes off without a hitch, that might be challenging this year. I just got back from Vegas a couple of weeks ago, and with the 25% capacity, it's not the easiest getting a seat in the sports book even though it's not busy. It makes it easier if you have a connection that can get you some kind of booth depending on where you're at. I used to get reserved seats at the Venetian, but now they require $3,000 in deposit to do that. I didn't want to have to do that for both me and my wife.

Also be aware that all restaurants require a reservation.

From locals I know that were there for the debauchery it was lame. Lower level class of people out and about acting the fool. Police were in full force and noticeable. Firework show downtown was decent but nothing of great consequence took place.

I'm hearing that the clientele at Circa is not the highest of standards.

Lots of people from California here...that is always a big crowd, but much higher percentage this year due to the Cal lockdowns. Spent most of the afternoon yesterday at Cosmo and would say it was crowded...the streets were very busy too even though the strip had no formal NYE activities other than one fireworks show from the Plaza.

The Circa will be interesting as they are charging high-end strip rates for a location in the middle of the downtown cesspool. That includes paying for parking, paying to walk around the rooftop pool (yes just to walk in to see it) and other various charges. Higher minimums on table games and low VP odds will not help repeat business after the novelty wears off. They are adults only which is attractive, but it will be difficult to pay a high end price when I can pay less at a high end strip property.

FYI...the first big convention for the first quarter 2021 (Toyfest at the SouthPoint) just backed out and there will be more to come.
