This may sound silly, but take it from someone who spends probably 75% of his life in front of a computer: switch your "mouse hand." Just move your mouse and pad over to the other side of the computer, then train yourself to use it with the other hand (you can often make it easier by changing the settings on the mouse, making the "right click" buttom the left button and vice versa.)
Once you have done this, get a splint for your right wrist. Wear it for a week or two everywhere but the shower and when having sex (unless wrist splints happen to be your wife's fetish, in which case enjoy yourself.) Once the splint comes off you will be amazed at how much better you feel.
Get some light hand weights (<3kg) and perform range-of-motion exercises with your effected hand.
If you don't mind dropping a hundred bucks and change, get a wireless keyboard and mouse, which can make a huge difference not only to your wrists but to the small of your back as well (since you can contort yourself however you please and still be able to use the keyboard and mouse.) I have alsobeen looking into elminating my mouse entirely and replacing it with a pointer device, similar to a laser pen, since this would eliminate the repetitive stress problem entirely. However, this is a big bucks solution, so it is sort of on the back burner for now.
Hope these tips help. I would recommend against the surgery in any event.
