At least he is for the most part respectfully choosing to do this by disappearing into the tunnel while it is playing and not the Abdul-Rauf approach by outwardly turning his back to the flag and mess. He has the right to express his displeasure with things the US is doing WTF does that have to do with him playing baseball? Delgado is a Puerto Rican playing for a Canadien baseball team, so what if he doesn't want to stand for "God Bless America". He does stand for both Canadien and American national anthems. Whenever there is poltitcal controversy there is bound to be an athelete here and there involved. As far as his batting average goes - what does that have to do with anything? Or is it OK for a guy hitting .375 to do whatever he wants. I notice no one has mentiond John Smoltz comments about gays. Smoltz, who is a devout Christian, caused a stir earlier this month with comments about gay marriage. He was quoted in an Associated Press story as saying, "What's next? Marrying an animal?" Although he has apologized for that remark, which he said was made in a joking manner after an interview, he does not apologize for his stance on gay marriage. He said, however, that he does not have a problem with the idea of having a gay teammate. Ball players are people also and have opinions. Personally I think both Delgado and Smoltz are entitled to their own opinions like anyone else.
